Born in 2352, the only child of civilian engineer Barnes Cody and his wife, Barbara Jennet-Cody, owner of Jennet Trade Securities Corporation(JTSC), David Cody led a pretty quiet life on Mars Colony. He attended primary and secondary education, often times helping his father rebuild machines, and on one occasion, had the opportunity to help his father restore an old Forerunner Shuttlecraft (what would later be identified as the JTSC-3 Prototype).

By the age of eighteen, David signed on as a crew hand under Captain Mov'na on a freight trade shipin 237005.14, which was later acquired by another captain, Gersh Nathan, in March of 2374, and worked from crew hand up to trade negotiator during the course of the next eight years, until a fatal trade deal with a Ferengi trader named Tvatec. Despite having somewhat familiarity with the Ferengi, David was underminded by the deal and found himself on the short end.

Instead of cashing in, Tvatec wanted Cody. David found himself bonded under the Ferengi, at the time 26, and would spend his next two years running the trade routes for Tvatec, picking up both the Ferengi language and their trade system, primarily as a trade securities investigator. From people, to precious valuables, medical supplies, weapons and ships. The Ferengi Government eventually cleared him for ship piloting as his quarries took him further and further out.

To the Ferengi, David is known as a Specialist Retriever.

Cody eventually bought out the bond in 238010.04 and through a series of deals, was able to buy off the single pilot ship that had been his home more times than not. His next stop was back to the Sol system, back to Mars, and back to his family. It wasn’t until he returned home he learned his parents had been discovered dead in their house in 237507.04. David himself had been listed both as missing and as a suspect.

After a lengthy inquest, and several communications between Starfleet, the Mars Colonies, and the Ferengi, David was able to clear his involvement and set upon the task of solving the circumstances around his parents death. He would not crack the case until four years later while serving on the USS Independence-A. His route took him from studying criminal investigations, forensics, and behavioral science into Starfleet, where his primary interest became Security, due to both his mother’s influence, his life as a trade securty investigator, and his focus to solve his parents’ deaths.

While his family had been vocal about independent careers, David chose in the end to retain ownership of Jennet Trade Securities Corporation, though his pseudo-adopted sister Deborah Turow (from Betazoid) runs it.

Starfleet redirected David to Starbase 118, where he would ship out into the Ithassa Region to join the White Ghost, Admiral Anassasi’s crew aboard the USS Independence. Originally as a tactical officer, David’s time there would take from Tactical over to Security, eventually to head up that division before returning to Tactical. He served with the Independence crew aboard DS17 during the Federation-Gorn Conflict in September of 2383 where the New Orleans Class USS Independence was destroyed taking out the flagship under Commander Idril Mar.

The commissioning of the USS Independence-A returned David to ship in the beginning of 2384, where he served as both Tactical and Security Chief up until on a search for a missing science vessel, upon the ship’s return (six months prior from the timeline), Starfleet “reassigned” David for a short duration on loan to Starfleet Intelligence, where he was training.

Back with his crew, David had a brief stint as a Marine/Security Lliason before returning to head up Security.
