DESCRIPTION
The Marine Contingent, comprised of 13 Marines assigned to the USS Independence-A, was formed on Stardate 238708, after the contingent's leader Alexandria Somers was posted to the Independence and asked for extra Marines to be part of the Unit she wished to create. The Contingent was made up of specialists and the best Marines that the Starfleet Marine Corps had to offer. Since its formation, the Independence unit has taken part in Operation Bright Star, which saw Starfleet forces retake Deep Space 17 from the Vaadwaur. This is where the history of the Independence-A Marines begins.
