Z'Vahme met Drex at Deep Space Nine, and the pair became fast friends. They further bonded while camping on Bajor when they found a litter of stray Risian Caracal kittens. Z'Vahme and Drex each adopted one of the kittens.

Family: Z’Vahme is the youngest of three sons born to T’Hana ( A Clerk in the Vissian Government’s Ethics Committee) and Syak ( A Roboticist). His two elder brothers Virol and Misek are twelve and eight years older, respectively.

Background

Z’Vahme was raised on the island-city of Hoc on Vissia Prime in a rather unorthodox household. His parents didn’t strictly adhere to the teachings of Surak, and so were referred to by traditionalist Vulcans as “V'tosh ka'tur" - those without logic. The family regarded this as an antiquated and pejorative term, and many an evening of Z’Vahme’s youth was spent listening to his parents’ teachings about how the Vulcan ideology of Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations was contradicted by the staunch cultural adherence to emotional regulation.

Z’Vahme’s brother Virol joined Starfleet’s diplomatic division, eventually serving as a diplomatic aide to the Federation’s Deputy Secretary of State. Their middle brother Misek went into the private sector, designing user interface systems for non-humanoid species in a variety of applications.

Much like his father, Z’Vahme had an interest in technology. Specifically, the young Vulcan enjoyed Astrometrics and Stellar Cartography In 2388 after finishing his primary education, Z’Vahme was accepted in Vissia’s prestigious University of Science, spending eight years earning his PhD in Stellar Cartography.

After completing his Doctorate, Z’Vahme decided to follow in his eldest brother’s footsteps and join Starfleet. This decision wasn’t an easy one, as both his mother and family voiced concerns. Virol had chosen the Diplomatic Corps, and so was felt to be relatively safe from harm. Z’Vahme however desired to explore the stars. And sought to do his part in making the galaxy a better place. Eventually, those parties came to accept that it was his decision. He applied and was accepted into Starfleet Academy in 2396, training for the next four years to become a Helm Officer.
