The information on this page comes from Sims on the USS Constitution-B. This planet is being developed by the whole of the crew and information is collected from their sims, establishing various pieces of information as ship canon. |
Misc
- Location: Marchlands
- Designation: Resort planet
- Original Climate:
- Climate: Artificial Weather -> Winter all year
Our new orders will bring us to Arentis, a Resort Planet that was created for the Winter tourism industry. It appears that their artificial weather system has been running into issues and I quote 'these casual engineers are unable to bring it back up'. Headquarters figured that we can give them a hand, which should take all but 10 minutes, and then recover from our mission with a lovely down time in the winter-scape of Arentis. [1] |
Locations
Monkbel Foothills
- Mirror Lake
- The Clearshore Inn : A hotel at the edge of the mirror lake.
She looked around the main lobby of the inn and drank in the atmosphere. It was rustic with large windows looking out at the frozen lake and flurries of snow. On the other side, two overstuffed leather sofas were sitting in front of a heavy stone fireplace with a roaring fire going. Rachel brushed the snow off her jacket and boots before making her way to the couch and sitting down. The heat radiating from the fireplace washed over her, banishing the cold away and letting her relax. She leaned back and relaxed for a bit before the squeaking of wheels got her attention. A woman in a heavy robe, hood, and goggles stopped by, pushing a cart with various hot drinks. [...] Hot cider, cocoa, coffee, tea. She saw a drink that looked like a dark green tea, only with a slight teal glow. It was unusual, but definitely eye-catching. [2] |
- Castrum Hibernum Portum: A 'fort' carved in ice with extensive offers of venues such as a ballroom, converence rooms and such. It was owned by a Magna Roman called Lucius.
While talking with some of the regular guests and staff of Arentis, several of them had recommended that Laria visit “the castrum”. It was a fort carved of ice that remained forever frozen in the Monkbel Foothills overlooking a large frozen lake. So, she had decided to make some time to visit the venue owned by a Magna Roman man named Lucius. [...] Lucius was waiting at the front, wearing several layered tunics and a fur mantle and shawl over them all to keep warm. The Magna Roman welcomed guests in and down the main hall towards the event spaces or upstairs to the Castrum’s restaurant. She admired the columns and busts carved from solid ice. The thick, cloudy ice was a decent simulacrum of the marble construction of ancient Magna Roman style. The hallway ended at an archway held up by a man and a woman carved from the ice. A ballroom, conference rooms, and other event spaces were beyond, and two ramps on either side led upward to the second floor of the icy palace. [...] She followed one of the snowy ramps up to the second level. Even the tables and chairs were carved from packed snow and ice, although they were covered with fur so as not to freeze anyone sitting there. [...] The restaurant had vaulted ceilings and more scrollwork and decorative reliefs carved into its walls. Closest to the front wall, an archway opened up onto a balcony. She looked out and saw the afternoon sunlight reflecting off the aptly-named Mirror Lake below. Further off towards the horizon, some of the larger mountain ranges could be seen. [...] She scrolled through the datapad menu, watching tiny holoemitters bring up images of some of the restaurant’s top dishes. [...] The wine list was extensive and conveniently organized by planet of origin. She noticed that they had Juilea-based wines, including one of her favorite amber wines from the wineries of Holtin House. She decided to pair a taste of home with the Magna Roman lunch. [3] |
Nothern Mountains
- Tribble Trails Ski Lodge
The ski lodge employees had really gone above and beyond to accommodate her request to give a variety of options for people who might not have equipment. There were racks of ski pants and jackets, a pile of goggles, plenty of ski poles, and light, flexible track skis good for beginners. She was most impressed by the multiple rows of ski boots. They wouldn’t be as ideal as custom-fitted boots, but most people would be able to find something that wasn’t going to be too much of an obstacle. [4] |
A fire crackled in the corner and he kept his eye on the mahogany wood table against the far wall where the giant transparent aluminum window overlooked the frigid landscape of Arentis.[5] |
- Winterdance Ski Lodge
- Winterdance Sledding Tours
A winterfun sledding company that uses Grurut to pull the sleds. It is located near the Winterdance Ski Lodge.
A little ways from the ski lodge there was a small building that looked cheerfully warm on the inside with a sign that said Winterdance Sledding Tours on it. Around the place were several outbuildings with animal pens attached. A bell tinkled merrily as the door to the office opened. [6] |
Tragis Mountainrange
The Mountainrange is free of Ski lodges or other buildings and is the perfect location for hikes and climbing.
Jalana had left the mountain range and took one of the various sleds to get to one of the ski lodges. There were none at the Tragis Mountainrange, that area was for wandering and hiking and the weather control station. [7] |
It also houses the central hub station of the weather control system. The person in charge of the system is a Pelian called Trana.
Keeping a planet outside of its natural climate in a perpetual state of winter was a lot of work. One would not think about how much it took to keep this going. Dozens of weather control stations were spread throughout the planet, each covering a certain area, make sure that things we running smoothly. [...] She stood in the main control room the heart of the whole operation. That control room was inside a mountain range to be hidden from the sight to not distract the tourists. [...] Twelve people sat on controls in front of a massive wall with a screen. That screen had dozens of smaller sectioned screens displayed to show the data from the weather network's own stations. A small - though for his species 5 foot tall - Pelian stood on a chair overseeing it all, his eyes wandering over the whole monitor. [8] |
Underground Caves
- Hot Springs : Connected to a Spa, the hot springs offer relaxing heat to dive into.
- Spa : Connected to the Hot Springs, the spa offers relaxation for everyone.
The spa was underground in a cave system where hot springs were discovered hundreds of years prior. It promised to be warm and humid, and it sounded like it was similar to spas typical of where he grew up: a series of pools, each one warmer than the last. And a strict no-clothes policy. [9] |
Frosty Ice Hotel
It didn’t look like much from the outside. Being ever adventurous, Ellie had done some research before picking a location for her shore leave and the Ice Hotel had won out. Of course, Arentis had many many options, but this one had intrigued her the most. It almost looked like cabins made of ice from the outside [...] but inside there were ice sculptures and an exotic restaurant that specialized in delicacies that played with hot and cold. The game room even had a carved ice 3D chess set up [...] The hotel connected with the underground network of caverns, so after getting settled and after eating Ellie planned on exploring and seeing if she could find one of the underground hot springs that were advertised. She had brought a PADD with books to read and had even considered venturing out to the mountain range for a hike. [10] |
Wildlife
Grurut
Grurut are animals native to Arentis. They are large creatures with long faces and color changing tail hair. Some establishments use them as sledding animals.
One had a kennel run with large beasts about as tall as T’Ama’s waist at the withers. They had absurdly long faces and long powerful tails with long bio-luminescent fringe hanging off them that glowed and changed colors, like their tail was covered in fiber optics. They were mostly white with grey to black markings, but the tails would change from blue, green, and pink like an aurora. Some were curled up in little shelters, some on top and covered in a dusting of snow. Others knuckled around their enclosure sticking their long noses into the deep snow, and smaller ones - juveniles? - would tackle each other with gusto and roll around wrestling. T’Ama trudged along, feet crunching in the snow, past the kennel run and she wondered if these were the gruruts. Some of them jumped on the fence and curiously tried to stick their long noses through the holes at her, equally long blue tongues trying to lick her. Eme: Oh yes! They are native to Arentis and have proven quite adept at transport pulling. Are you here for a ride? [11] |
Nelko
Nelkos are animals native to Arentis. They are small creatures resembling hedgehoges that live in the snowpiles of Arentis.
Another brown creature curiously scurried up her leg and then down again. Stapledon: Interesting. It looks like they live in the snowbank. |
