Below Sims

Another Type of Sim

Sometimes you want to tell a story that might not necessarily fit in with the main story. Consider the crew is currently on a mission exploring part of Ring 42 and you would like a 'B-Plot' of your character playing out some sort of adventure in the holodeck with another character. This would be the perfect opportunity to write a 'Below Deck' or just 'Below' sims.

Simply write the sims as you would write any other sims, following the same formatting and other storytelling ideas you normally would - just with a bit looser constraints. Because there is more leeway, you do need to follow a few basic rules:

  • All 'Below' sims must start with the subject prefix [BELOW]
  • To keep the focus on the main mission's plot, 'Below' sims cannot be written until a simmer has posted at least twice before in a given week.
  • If a 'Below' post would somehow detract from the mission's plot, refrain from posting it. When in doubt, ask a senior officer.

'Below' sims are a great way to interact with your shipmates and frienemies in new and interesting ways, get achievements, and have more fun.
