The crew of the [[USS Garuda]] were all excited about being involved with a historic First Contact with the [[Kubarey]] race, but things didn't go according to plan. Although scheduled to meet on the remote Kubarey outpost of [[Rho Aurigae IV]], when an initial contact could not be established, Captain {{n|Cassandra|Egan Manno}} took an away team down to the surface to meet the Kubarey delegation. However, they accidentally disturbed an ancient holy ceremony which greatly angered the Kubarey on the planet and triggered reprisals. | |||
A Kubarey assault team boarded the Garuda from their own ship that had been trailing them, and rapidly took control of most of the ship. Over 1000 crew and civilians were taken hostage, and only a determined effort by the remaining senior crew managed to wrest control back from Kubarey. | |||
Meanwhile, down on the surface, [[Ross, Harrison|Commander Ross]] was the first to feel the wrath of Kubareys. He was shot by a strange device and vanished. The rest of the away were forced to undergo trials to prove their worthiness to enter the Kubarey’s temple.
