Lieutenant Kareth, son of Tamohk, is the science officer of the USS Ronin-A in an alternate universe where the Federation and Klingon Empire lost the Dominion War.
Kareth had served in the front lines of the war early on as a member of the Klingon Defense Forces. He survived Operation Return, the failed attempt by Starfleet in 2374 to retake Deep Space 9 and stop a fleet of 2,800 Dominion ships from coming through the wormhole.
The Dominion War officially ended in 2386 with the fall of Qo'noS. The Klingon High Council was executed and a new Klingon chancellor installed by the Dominion, who signed a peace treaty to end hostilities between the Klingon Empire and the Dominion. However, not all houses recognized the legitimacy of the new chancellor, and surviving Klingon warriors continued a guerrilla war against the Dominion occupation. With the Klingon Defense Forces dismantled and Starfleet reduced to a handful of surviving ships, those who joined the rebellion put aside uniform and rank to serve together.
