Divided into Orders, the Guard has a long history within the Union and service in the Cardassian military is considered one of the highest duties of a citizen and thus greatly respected. Following the Dominion War, the Cardassian Guard was reorganized and placed firmly under the control of the Detapa Council, the civilian governing body of the Cardassian Union.
