Her personal quarters are well kept except for the desk that is usually littered with books and maps. A small bookshelf sits calmly above the desk holding language books, pagan texts, tactical maps, psychology books,sociology books, tactical hand books, and a red and gold diary held closed with a red bow.

Her favorite room is her quarters; because this is where she can be alone to write down everything that happens in her life so she can reflect on it and work through it without inflicting her problems and stress on those around her.

Personal History
Aurora was born on Earth to a wealthy family; she is the only daughter of deceased Starfleet Capt. Elena Rose James and wealthy casino owner, Todd Mark James. Her mother died giving birth to her, and her father sent her to only the best private schools in the Upper East Side of New York City. She showed great promise in linguistics as a kid and graduated high school at the top of her class as Valedictorian a year early, speaking eight distinct native Earth languages fluently.
In addition to her love of languages she was quite the sponge when it came to absorbing new information. She attended New York University with a double major in Psychology and Sociology gaining both B.S. Degrees and a Ph.D. It was revealed during her freshman year Psychology class that she had a photographic memory, capable of allowing her to fly right through any book, test, and assignment she was ever given and allowed her to graduate and be at the top of her class as Valedictorian. After her stunning graduation speech and her small family reunion with her father, she was hit hard by the reality of the fact that her father was an unhappy and dying man as he was just diagnosed with lung cancer and he had every intention to kill himself after selling everything and leaving her with his vast fortune. Despite this, she left for Starfleet command as planned with her father’s blessing.
While at Starfleet, she spent the next four years triple majoring in advanced tactical training, Counseling, and the learning of alien languages. AJ learned to speak Vulcan, Acamarian, Denobulan, Gideon, Kobliad, Brekkian, and Argelian. She will graduate from the Starfleet Academy’s “Cadet Cruise” at age 30. This time however, her father won’t be at her reunion but she will get a letter with his will waiting for her instead. Though heartbroken, she maintains a calm and collected exterior with the intent of honoring her parents’ memories.
Despite her age and strengths, Aurora harbors a secret that eats away at her every day of her life. When she was in college at NYU, before she joined Starfleet Academy, she was raped, tortured and nearly murdered by a fellow student in her psychology class. Aurora endured this for a full week before she finally managed to escape with her life by blasting her attacker with his own phaser. Sadly, this week of rape, torture, and near death left her scared not only physically and psychologically, but also resulted in the birth of her daughter, Jazmine Ame James, who Aurora gave up for adoption right after her birth.
Aurora misses her daughter and sometimes regrets her decision to give her up, but knows that Jazmine is growing up with a loving family who can provide her with safety that is completely unaffiliated with Starfleet. And still to this day Aurora has a hard time trusting people in general, but knows that trust and teamwork are the only way to get things done.
