I'm Tom, I work in education and at the time of creating this page (June 2024) I've been with the fleet for almost a year. I was first assigned to the USS Oumuamua in the summer of 2023, and I transferred with everyone to the USS Octavia E Butler after we elected to blow a hole in our preceding ship. Outside of this, I am a member of the newsies team and I've just recently joined the monthly fleet chat team.

I am often found on the discord posting memes and finding as many ways as possible to annoy the senior staff.

This will be a snapshot of June 2024

Characters

I have one main character

My Player Characters

Lhandon Nilsen Ensign.png

LTJG Lhandon Joseph Nilsen - HCO - USS Oumuamua then USS Octavia E Butler

Player Character - Face Claim: Jeremy Allen White

Luna-scale.pngSagan-scale.png

Lhandon is the assistant Cheif Of Operations on the USS Octavia E Butler & he previously served as a helm, communications, and operations officer aboard the USS Oumuamua. Sherlock has nicknamed the HCO as Number 16, and at this time, Nilsen does not know why. He's a good kid, but he's got a bit of a temper and he's known for rushing head-first into situations.

He's often found hanging out with his best friend Toxin Arlill, and working on some kind of project.

My Personal Non Player Character (PNPC)

Percy

I'll be updating this guy shortly, he is to become my new PNPC PNPC - Face Claim: Charles Leceric

T'Larn Face Claim - Thandie Newton.jpg

T'Larn - Linguistics Researcher - Cilivian - USS Oumuamua then USS Octavia E Butler

PNPC - Face Claim: Melanie Thandiwe Newton

Luna-scale.pngSagan-scale.png

T'Larn is a vulcan linguistics researcher who took a position on the USS Oumuamua to aid the crew in understanding the effects of the E-cho Micronebulua. After her assignment was complete, she elected to remain on the Oumuamua. Her main field of study the difference in syntax and speech pattern between humans and other species with a particular focus on humor

"How observant. I trained as a neurologist and found a (beat) enjoyment in linguistic. My preferred area of research is humour, more specifically, the difference in syntax and speech patterns between humans and other species. If I may indulge, human humour is certainly most…universal. Humans seem to have a knack for quickly understanding and engaging with the humour of other races, even if they only have been interacting for a short while. ::To Toz:: But where are my manners, Dr Toz I have been standing here all day and I hardly asked you about your career." T'Larn in discussion with Dr Toz and Counsellor Brodie, Stardate 240010.11

I would like to use this character again but I found a lot of what she did, Lhandon did too.
My Mission Specific Non Player Character (MSNPC)
Torka Mikal

Torka was my first MSPNC

Intercessor Ulto'Delarento

Ulto was my second and the one that certainly caused some issues for the crew.

Real Life information

I'm often found playing TTRPG's such as D&D and Masks: The New Generation. My university dissertation called "How are Friendships formed and maintained in the shared experience of TTRPG's" and I'm looking to start my masters course in applied positive Psychology in September '24

I'm also dyslexic, which means that sometimes sims and writing can get a little tricky for me, fortunately I've found a wonderful group of people who are mega supportive in the fleet and I've also got a bunch of tools to help me.

How you came to UFOP: SB118

I was in a handful of writing groups, including some for pro-wresting but none of them seemed to click for me and I never really found my place or my footing. Feeling a bit disenfranchised, I hit the googles not expecting much, I just knew I wanted to do Star Trek. I was drawn in by how professorial the front page was and convinced to join in by the wiki which seemed to scratching an itch I didn't knew I had. When I signed up, I found the format of the sims really suited me and as I entered the fleet, I was overjoyed to know that I was supported to improve my writing by my mentors, V'Len Kel and then when he transferred to the Ronin, Avander Promontory

History

Now talk about your memories of the group. Here are some ideas for what to talk about:

  • Where were you first placed? What was it like starting to sim on your vessel?
  • What have been your greatest challenges in this group?
  • What have been your greatest achievements in this group?
  • What do you hope to ultimately accomplish?
  • Where do you see this group in five years?
  • How do you think this group has contributed to Star Trek's legacy? How has the group contributed to the internet community?
