Ecumenopolis

An ecumenopolis is a type of city that covers an entire planet, or in some cases a moon.

Valcarians were advanced enough to transform Valcaria into an ecumenopolis as early as 100,000 years ago. 96,000 years later, Mymiri became one, during the course of only a single century of prosperity.

There were many ecumenopolises in the galaxy, most notably:

• Illara Prime
• Lirassan (almost)
• Mymiri
• Sinosa
• Valcaria

Behind the scenes

The word is Greek and the concept was invented in 1967 by the Greek city planner Constantinos Doxiadis.
