Background
Si’Las Van der Hagen was born in 2378 on board the USS Ann Arbor, a Sovereign-Class en route to Vulan to parents T’Rel, then First Officer (Now Captain) of the Ann Arbor and Konrad, a Colonel in the Starfleet Marine Corps. Si’Las also has an older brother named Thijs, who is 7 years older than him, and is a Lieutenant serving on the USS Morgan, an Intrepid-Class.
For most of his life, Si’Las has spent his life between Detroit, Michigan and The Hague, Netherlands on Earth and ShirKhar on Vulcan. Konrad was Dutch-American, and made sure to make sure his son was exposed to all of the cultures he belonged to. Because of this, Si’Las can speak English, Dutch, and Vulcan fluently. While Si’Las was raised learning the traditional Vulcan values, Si’Las has always struggled with controlling his emotions. Not usually anger, but his feelings of sadness or embarrassment. This culminated in Si’Las being diagnosed with ASD in 2388, which since the diagnosis his family has been supportive in helping him overcome his struggles. Along with this, Si’Las excelled in his studies primarily in Mathematics and History, as well as developing many passions including cooking, reading, running, swimming and wrestling. He also later in his teen years became what he now knows is called a “Cinephile” and “Musicophile”.
While Konrad wished for his sons to join the Starfleet Marine Corps, Si’Las believed that his skills would be best suited for the regular fleet so in 2396, Si’Las entered Starfleet Academy to Major in becoming a Helmsman and Minor in Tactical Security. While at the Academy, Si’Las was an accomplished Cross Country Runner and Swimmer, helping the Academy to two back-to-back World-Wide Championships for his 2nd and 3rd CC seasons and getting a school record in swimming. However, despite excelling in sports and academics, his peers noted that he was also very quiet and kept to himself, struggling to make friends and real connections, something he hoped to change during his career.

- 2382: Begins Swimming and Running when Mother signs him up.
- 2388: Diagnosed with ASD; Brother Thijs begins attending Starfleet Academy at 17.
- 2392: Begins studying Advanced Mathematics.
- 2393: Takes up Greco-Roman Wrestling as a Hobby (Unable to Wrestle at Academy due to “Time Constraints”.)
- 2396: Passes Starfleet Academy Exam and enters as a 1st-Year Cadet.
- 2397: Breaks the 200 IM Academy Record as a Sophomore, which held until Senior Year.
- 2400: Briefly dated Female Vulcan named T’Kell, however the relationship does not continue.
