Background

Gra'vel was one of seven hundred and eighty three members of her crèche and reached physical maturity in the early 2300's on her species home planet of Janus VI. While the vast majority of her species was content to tunnel away and work with the large Federation mining settlement that had grown up on the planet over the previous several centuries Gra'vel found herself constantly fascinated by the idea of traveling not only below the surface, but above and through the stars beyond. This aberrant perspective earned her the scorn and eventual censure of her people when she announced her intention to join Starfleet. She was ejected from her crèche as a potentially unstable influence on future generations and has not returned to Horta society since.

While she found her early time in Starfleet dominated by engineering duties that were geared towards her unique physiology she was continually fascinated by the idea of personal flight. While assigned to the Thor as an small craft technical specialist she regularly interacted with that vessels Marine aviator contingent and became increasingly drawn to the idea of becoming a combat pilot, which the crew of the Thor enthusiastically supported. Special modifications for a Valkyrie's piloting couch and interface technology were designed and refined as Gra'vel learned about the basics of flight and after several false starts and failed experiments, a design was settled upon that allowed Gra'vel to effectively pilot a Starfleet Valkyrie without damaging herself or the craft. She developed a deep bond of professional and personal gratitude with her then mentor 1st. Lt. Ishani Singh, who would go on to specifically request her as a pilot when it came time for Major Singh to take over the defense aerospace group posted to Deep Space Thirty Three. When that group was reassigned to the newly recommissioned USS Ronin Gra'vel happily transferred and quickly became a popular and well respected member of the crew.

SIM Archive

Replace the links below with links to your own SIMs that you find memorable or are important to your character - you may want to add more as your time with the fleet goes on! You can find a complete archive of sims here at the SIM Archive.
To end your bio, we're going to drop in some code here for your ship's crew template, which should appear at the bottom of your bio and will help members of the fleet easily browse other bios of your shipmates. Change the name of the ship below to whatever the name of your character's ship is, unless of course you've been assigned to the USS Gemini! Don't forget the letter suffix for your ship if yours has one (such as the USS Darwin-A).
