Kallia Qinn was born to Ellia and Kalin Qinn, in Debala. Her mother was head of one of the many families that made up the Sixth House of Betazed. Born blind, multiple attempts were made to reverse her blindness, with both surgery and VISOR style implants, but none of the attempts were successful. Due in part to her blindness, she developed a unique adaptation that allowed her to read the kinesthetic awareness of others, to form a mental map of the world around her, combingint that with other technological adaptations she was able to maneuver through the world around her semi normally. Growing up she did decently well in school, excelling in programming and other related subjects. Finishing her schooling, she decided to enroll in Starfleet to expand her horizons.

Career

Kalia enrolled in Starfleet Academy at the age of 17. She focused on Operations, with a minor in Science, specifically AI development. After graduation she was assigned as a junior officer to the USS Ascendant. She was promoted to Lieutenant JG and transferred to Starbase 74 in 2383. There she continued to serve as an operations officer, and eventually, when promoted to Lieutenant, the Operations Liaison to the Starfleet Science Artificial Intelligence Working Group, who had a large presence on the station. When she was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in mid 2398, and transferred to the USS Juneau to serve as the ships Chief of Operations.
