She undertook her first right of ascension at age 13 which culminated in the lighting of a kor'tova candle,to signify the lighting of the fire in her warriors heart. Ba'el then traveled to the monastery on Boreth with her mother. There she studied the teachings of Kahless under the intense scrutiny of the monks, and assisted pilgrims with their preparations for rituals.

When she was 16, she experienced a vision during her meditations that would affect her life profoundly. Over the next few years she would spend her time assisting pilgrims that no one else could, or would help. After completing her second ritual of ascension at age 22, she surprised her family by traveling to earth and apply to Starfleet Academy.

Now, with her time at the academy coming to a conclusion, Ba'el was eager to take the next step on the path laid out for her in her vision.
