Neeya Velix is a joined Trill who currently serves as Engineering Officer on the USS Constitution-B. She is the fifth host of the Velix symbiont.

Appearance

Neeya is dark-skinned with green eyes and full lips. She is short and has a petite build, but makes up for her size by being fairly loud and opinionated. Her makeup and hair often push the boundaries of what Starfleet regulations allow.

Mannerism

When it comes to Neeya, people usually either find her endearing and a little crazy, or annoying. Fact is, the young Trill is a lot to deal with. She is approachable and, in turn, approaches others, eager to make friends with pretty much everyone. At the same time, rules and regulations are a bit of a struggle for her, and she doesn't always think her ideas through.

History

During her time as Cadet on Starbase 118, people who got to know Neeya described her as a diligent student with high grades and good manners, though perhaps a little solitary and shy. To some, in particular her mentor V'luna, it came as a surprise when Neeya's dream of getting joined became reality. She left for Trill only a few weeks after her graduation from Starfleet Academy.

When Neeya, now Neeya-Velix, returned to Ops, little was left of the shy Ensign with the need to please everyone. Because of that, adjustment was a little more difficult than expected, as old friends and teachers struggled with liking who she had become. Through regular counselling and mentoring, the young trill has learned to embrace her new self, and everything that comes with it.

The Velix Symbiont

There are some who suspect that the shy and quiet Neeya was elected to become the Velix symbiont's host to even out some of the less desirable histories around the Trill joined with it. Though, everyone who has ever spent time with Neeya, knows that that didn't quite work out.

Dekim Velix

A confident and handsome Starfleet Engineer who joined the Maquis after his partner, an unarmed medical officer, was killed by Cardassians. Upon being detained, he was sent to a penal colony, but like many other Maquis members was given the opportunity to rejoin Starfleet during the Dominion War. He remained with Starfleet until a progressively worse illness forced him to retire.

Aaseema Velix

Aaseema was a botanist. She was kind, warm, and cared deeply for others. Neeya is pretty sure that she inherited Aaseema's fascination with plants and insects.

Sakina Velix

Sakina was a medical professional, doing medical research. Not much is known about her, other than that she requested to be joined wit her late mentor's symbiont.

Karem Velix

Karem was a medical professional, and Sakina's mentor. An accident ended his life prematurely.
