The first thing that people seem to notice about Mek's personality is his confidence, which comes across in the way he carries himself and in his extremely dark sense of humor. He is rather blunt, but he tries to temper any edge with self-deprecation.

- Earth books, the older the better. Mek grew fascinated with them when his paternal grandfather, Kul Shelko Tal'korian-onn, gave his father a first-edition copy of The Elements of Botany by Sir Francis Darwin as a gift for his 40th birthday. Mek insists that bound books are superior in every way to the traditional Tandaran folded scroll, which consists of accordion-like folded sheets of paper that are attached to two outer covers.
