Nosprum spent most of her life living and working on Malkus IX. Her parents are historians and intense religious devotees, keepers of the traditional Leyron way. She was raised in a very traditional, very conservative home, and her first language was written Leyron-- following in the tradition of her ancestors. Her expectations for life were very structured, and for most of the time she spent on Malkus IX she was confined to the highly traditional, highly ritualistic, portion of her planet.

At 24 Nosprum became fascinated by a passing Starfleet mission - bringing many things she held dear into question, including her destiny. While already living as a therapist in an older part of the city, she realized through conversations with members of Starfleet, she could put her talents to use in Starfleet. The next night, she snuck out and got on the next ship to the nearest starbase, to enroll with Starfleet.
