• Cusan Enel: A member of the 345th Platoon, Bajoran Militia. Riley looked up to him and respected him as a mentor. Saved each other's lives a few times in combat during the Dominion War.

• Dalen Martov: Bajoran prime minster official, who Riley had served with during the Dominion War. At several points in time, Riley used his own body as a meat shield to protect Dalen from whatever the Cardassians did to him. Eventually developed a bit of a crush on Riley.

Background

He spent most of his life as an artist, specifically in woodworking and making boxes. A visiting Starfleet relief effort came to assist a nearby settlement with a relief effort to recover from some sort of natural disaster in the wake of the Cardassian occupation and thus sparked his interest to join. He was conscripted into service for the Bajoran militia at age 11. Riley tried once to get into the academy, and decided to stay with the milita for a few years more before making a second attempt. While in the Bajoran militia, he focused on small unit tactics, small hand weapons, hand to hand combat, rifles and piloting. His second attempt to join Starfleet was just after his promotion to first lieutenant, and it was unsuccessful. After a few more months of service, he managed to get into the academy and resigned his commission in the militia.
