Background

Vitor was born on 5 April 2362, in Lisbon, Earth. His parents were both Starfleet Officers from Portuguese ancestry. His mother never really cared about the family background, but on his father's side, the family tradition of Starfleet service was so embedded, that both Vitor's father and aunt entered the Academy to perpetuate that lineage. It was at Starfleet Academy that Vitor's parents met, and although they began their careers serving on different ships, they managed to maintain their relationship. They married two years before Vitor was born. For a brief period of time they were both stationed on Earth, but in 2365 they were assigned to the USS Bellerophon - Mary in Security, and José in Engineering. Only two years later the Bellerophon was part of the fleet that faced the Borg in Wolf 359. While José and Vitor managed to survive as they evacuated in an escape pod, but Mary was one of the many casualties that day.

Vitor has very few memories of those days, but to this day he can’t stand smoke or the smell of something burning. Now a widower with a small boy in his care, José was transferred to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards and Vitor spent his time between Mars and his grandfather's home on Earth. Roberto Tito was close friends with his neighbor Jonas Silveira. Vitor often accompanied his grandfather to his farmhouse, where he first met Vitor Silveira. In spite of the age difference, the two boys became close friends, and Vitor took the role of an older brother. In the 2370’s, Vitor’s world was shaken again as his aunt joined the Maquis. The rift between her and the rest of the family was widening with every day until contact eventually broke off completely. To this day, she is listed as missing, although presumed dead. Worse was his father's transfer to the USS Venture, and his service in the Dominion War. The war had changed him, and even with continuous Counseling, José never recovered from the trauma. In 2379, an accident with a plasma venting system injured José seriously, and although the Doctors made all possible attempts, he didn't survive. It was never confirmed, but Vitor believes that there was no accident and that his father killed himself.

Now seventeen and living with an aging grandparent, Vitor at first made plans to enter a civilian University instead of Starfleet Academy. He had excellent grades in math and chemistry, and considered following those subjects. Before he could start his education, his grandfather's health deteriorated. Vitor eventually conceded to the old man's dying wish and entered Starfleet Academy in 2380. In a gesture of defiance, he had the word tradição (tradition) tattooed on his arm, with each letter on the rings of a chain that goes from his shoulder to his elbow. He also majored in Security instead of following Science as his grandfather expected. Vitor graduated in 2384, and his first assignment was the Renaissance-class USS Aries (NCC-45167) as Security Officer. The fact that most of the first year was spent on scientific surveys didn’t bother him, and it was usual for him to stick around the Science labs and give a hand when needed. In early 2386, his grandfather died. Vitor took a few months of leave to take care of things and then requested a transfer.

Without any remaining family, he wanted more action. He was assigned as Tactical officer on the Prometheus class USS Adelaide (NCC-81556). Assigned to patrol along the Klingon border, this posting had more than its share of incidents, fights, and problems. Between blood feuds, remnants of the Orion Syndicate and the usual power struggles, the old saying “being careful for what you wish for” was proven true. Although Tactical hadn't been his first choice, Vitor managed to prove himself a good officer, being promoted to Lieutenant Junior grade in 2387. In the aftermath of the Hobus explosion, the Adelaide was assigned to provide aid and assistance. When Vitor's away team on an escort mission was ambushed, only he and the First Officer survived, and the Adelaide had to fight their way out of the situation. Using the Multi vector attack, Vitor took command of the dorsal section and was instrumental in destroying a Romulan D'deridex. For his actions Vitor was promoted to Lieutenant, and with it he was assigned Chief of Security and Second Officer. With a new Captain, and now under a classified mission deep in what was once Romulan space, the Adelaide was ordered to destroy a Tal Shiar base, which was developing a Borg based weapon that could threaten the Federation. While the mission was a success, it was also costly, and although Vitor was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and offered the position of First Officer of the Adelaide, he chose not to stay on board and asked for a transfer.

Vitor was assigned as Chief Tactical Officer to the Intrepid class USS Stargazer (NCC-74655) as they were about to embark on their first mission. The Stargazer was to escort a Cardassian convoy, although in truth their mission was to serve as a decoy for a Cardassian terrorist group that was attacking both Federation and Cardassian targets. The mission ended up being more complicated than expected. There was an infiltrator already on board, and only the crew's quick action allowed them to survive. Vitor was injured severely as he followed the saboteur to keep him from escaping, and had to spend a few days in Sickbay.. It was there that he met Vetras, the Stargazer’s Cairn Operations officer. Vitor and Vetras “clicked” immediately. For the first time he fell in love. When the Stargazer was sent after the saboteur and terrorist group that they confronted on their first mission, Vetras was taken hostage by them. By then, she and Vitor were in a relationship, and he went down with the assault team to recover her. Although it came with heavy casualties and the destruction of the Stargazer in the ensuing battle, the assault on the terrorist base allowed Vitor to save Vetras.

After they had recovered, Vitor and Vetras were assigned to the USS Lexington (NCC-61832). Following Vitor’s suggestion, the Captain volunteered the Lexington for a mission behind Klingon lines. Following swift attacks and retreats, the Lexington managed to wreak havoc among the klingons and returned safely to Federation lines as the conflict unfolded. With his commendable service, Vitor became Lexington’s First Officer, and in early 2390 he and Vetras married. The young couple enjoyed their time together as the Lexington was in dry dock, repairing from battle damage for over four months . By the end of the year they discovered Vetras was pregnant and despite it being a high-risk pregnancy, she and Vitor stayed on board - a decision that he regrets to this day.

During a survey mission in the Betreka Nebula, Vetras sustained radiation poisoning while in labour, and both her and her unborn daughter died. Vitor, unable to cope with the loss, left the Lexington and took a leave of absence. He began to drink in an attempt to drown his pain, and started a self destructive path that involved bar fights and drug abuse. It was his friend Silveira who managed to help him get back to his feet and into Starfleet service. On his subsequent posting on the USS Columbia, Vitor met Doc Jo MacLaren with whom he became involved. They transferred together to the Apollo A, but their relationship eventually ended, as he was fearful of fully committing himself again. He left the Fleet trying to find another purpose in his life.

After some time to himself, Vitor rejoined Starfleet at the rank of a Lieutenant J.G. on the Juneau.

Current history

Tito arrived at the Junaeu during shore leave. His first contact's with the crew went as expected, except in regard with Counselor Arys. There appeared to be a rapport between them, but it didn't lasted.

The Pied Piper

Their diplomatic mission turned out well as they manage to conduct the peace process between the Caglan and the Zik, in spite of the tedious work that it was. Meanwhile Tito got closer to Arys as he found it easy to open up with her.

Now the Juneau is on patrol duty in the nebula DE-678912 - dubbed the Dirty Elbow Nebulae by the locals - after receiving a distress call from an old Cardassian listening post, claiming Nauscican pirates are targeting transport vessels in one of the most prominent trading routes in the Aavaro Wilds. The Captain helds up an improvised meeting with Commander Williams, Ensign Falt and Tito in the Clanhouse. There they began to be surprised by, according to Tito's words, Presences. The Captain was "visited" by her dead fiance and sister, Williams meets his girlfriend, Falt a long dead childhood friend. Tito is confronted with his long dead wife Vetras and daughter Paris, all grown up as if she was alive. It is a traumatic experience, but they begin to work together, trying to head for the bridge, in spite of the conflicting sensor readings. Before heading to the bridge he confront's Vetras and Paris taking a first step to finally bring some closure regarding their deaths. Back on the bridge they begin working to try and bring some solution to the hallucinations. They discover that micro subspace rifts are forming across the entire ships, possibly explaining the visions they’ve been experiencing. Tito suggests creating a metaphasic shield to put a stop to the rifts. Ensign Falt tracks down a bubble of ‘normal space’ travelling through the ship, it's Ensign Essa who claims he has come to help those who are in pain, by playing a Cagnal flute. It is latter revealed that an Cagnal artifact might be enhancing the problem and as Ensign Falt and Commander Williams head down to the JAG labs, a possible solution implies spreading out the music from the flute all trough the ship. As Tito stays on the bridge, Ensign Falt and Commander Williams discover that their visions are being caused by a small orb (only 10 centimetres across). Apparently it is a device that’s able to create a psychokinetic field that manipulates subspace just enough for the crew to experience hallucinations. With the Captain’s permission, they destroy the orb. With the orb having been destroyed and Essa’s music banishing the last remnants of the crew’s hallucinations, life aboard the ship slowly returns to normal.

Finally clearing the mission, with the Juneau docked in DS9, Tito is confronted by Sil's letters and quickly goes to Risa, where he faces him. He lashes him about his reckless actions and leaves after shunning him. On his way back he writes to Arys, but when he get's her reply he detours to Earth hoping he could reach her in time. He arrived at her grandfathers funeral and they had lunch a few days later. Back on the Juneau Tito and Arys go together to the Awards Ceremony. They join Commander T'Lea and later Ensign Sival before the ceremony starts. Arys is promoted and he is given several ribbons for his actions during the mission.

The Silent Monster

The Juneau is sent to survey the planet Anadasa, an M-class world inhabited by a pre-industrialized civilization. Just prior to entering the briefing the Tactical Department detects a crashed Borg ship deep within the planet’s ocean, and that is reported mid briefing by Lieutenant Kendrick. The Captain chooses to beam down two teams, one commanded by herself to search the city od Da'Al traces of a plasma-based energy source as well as traces of an element called Paralithium (a substance used as fuel for some ion-based propulsion systems). The other by Commander Qinn is sent to the Borg wreckage in the ocean. Commander T'Lea takes command of the Juneau as Tito stays at the Tactical station. It is after the away team are of ship that a structure on one of Anadasa’s moons is detected. Commander T’Lea orders the ship to set course for the moon to investigate and Tito offer himself to go on a small away team to investigate. Commander T'Lea acknowledges him, but it's her that leads the away team discovering a Cardassian outpost. Now with Lieutenant Stelek in command Tito find a Cardassian ship wreckage on a nearby planet in the system. Indobri gets results back about what's causing her to be sick and finds out she has Rodulan Fire Fever, and only an hour before she potentially becomes delirious or even unconscious. On board the Juneau they find lines of connection between both wreckage sites and the base on the moon as the wreckage starts to power up. Ensign Dekas informs the Juneau of his unfortunate condition. The ship has to consider the loss of the away team on the moon for the greater good. Lieutenant Stelek ultimately chooses to contact Qinn to get the anti-assimilation medicine to the moon before they set off a magnetic storm to block Borg signals. With all plans now in motion the Juneau emits a magnetic storm that does some power overloads. Tito's tactical station overloads and he is injured in his left arm. He manages to still assist as the away teams are beamed back to safety.

Recovering in Sickbay he applies for a transfer that is quickly accepted. He moves to Starbase 118, where he takes position as an Intelligence Officer.
