Background

Born on Cygnet XIV to a family of engineers, Evie grew up surrounded by starship engineers and technicians. The youngest of five siblings, Evie was the most technically adept, but was the only one who never felt at home tinkering with engine parts, instead preferring to use the parts find ways to augment her own body to perform more demanding tasks.

This naturally grew into more than a passing curiosity, eventually swaying her decision to defy her parents wishes of becoming another starship technician. She applied to MIT, an ability granted to her by the Cygnian race’s membership in the federation, where she continued her studies in cybernetic implants. Immediately after graduation, she re-applied to MIT to undertake a masters degree in AI Development, which she furthered into her doctoral studies.

Her doctoral paper on Human-Hybrid AI technologies earned her a respected publishing within the Starfleet Cybernetics Journal, garnering her a respect within Starfleet, and ultimately leading to them offering her a research fellowship at Jupiter Station, where she continued to study Artificial Intelligence for a number of years.

In her ninth year at Jupiter Station, the station commander offered her an honorary commission at the rank of Ensign, which she graciously accepted. She holds the rank in name only, preferring her title remain as Doctor.
