The Sigarus System is a small celestial body located on the outer edge of the Raytas Sector. It was first discovered in 2372 by a Starfleet survey party a few months before the outbreak of the Dominion war. The system has only rarely been visited since then. The planet is not considered a strategic resource or the home of any needed mineral deposits. Some Federation scientists have suggested that Sigarus III might pose a unique medical benefit due to it's many strains of plant, animal, and viral life. No expeditions have been sent since the beginning of the Dominion War.
