CURRENT SIM PLOTS

THE USS CENTRIS

On our journey through the Gamma Quadrant, we stopped at the Ixius system to replinish supplies. Once there, we were caught up in a phenomena we later learned was a humanoid made wormhole. We believe the Preservers created this portal on their seeding missions throughout this galaxy. This portal transported us back to the Alpha Quadrant. Soon after our return, we received a distress signal from the USS Chicago. We responded, and found it engaged against a Klingon vessel, with the crew ejected in escape pods. After recovering the crew, the Chicago was destroyed to prevent enemy capture, and we are now on our way home, to Starbase 118.

THE USS CHICAGO

You left us boarded by Vareiians, with some of our crew aboard a commandeered Vareiian ship. Well, we retook our vessel, but were immediately engaged with a Klingon vessel which knocked out all our weapons, propulsion, and computer systems. Dead in the water, we signalled for help and evacuated our ship. We were rescued by the USS Centris, who later destroyed the Chicago to prevent its fall into enemy hands. We are returning to Starbase 118 aboard the Centris.

INTERVIEW

This month I am interviewing Ensign Togal Pilcher, a 22 year old Romulan/Vulcan/Klingon male. He majored in tactics and command at the Academy and is now serving as Helm on the Issanah.

Please tell me why you entered Starfleet.

The chance to serve with so many interesting people, jumping into the action and visiting new places all the time. It is a great opportunity to make a difference and have some exciting adventures.

What has been your most exciting adventure so far?

So far, the Isannah has presented quite an adventure. I started the mission on a bit of a sour note attempting to assasinate the first officer. This was due to an illness I have which rendered my cognitive abilities null. I'm now recieving some ground-breaking treatment from the medical staff and am in remission.

So, do you now believe that you are able to resume your duties as a Starfleet officer?

Absolutely! If I had allowed the illness to go untreated, I would have been susceptible to further attacks which would have endangered my ship and my crewmates. However, I have received treatment and I am in full remission. Since beginning treatment I have acted fully in accordance with Starfleet regulations and as a sound and reliable officer. I think anyone with this kind of illness should step forward for treatment, because there are very effective treatments and they help phenomenally!

What are your career goals now that you have conquered this unfortunate disease?

Well, obviously, I would like to advance through Starfleet. I'm a pilot, and I love anything to do with that. I would like to serve as a top helmsman, possible even do some special teams work but first and foremost I like to continue in the missions of the Isannah and other starships. I have been trained as a warrior. I know tactics, I know security, I know piloting. If there is ever a battle I want to be in it helping Starfleet to win. If that means I get promotions, it means I get promotions. If It means I stay an Ensign for the rest of my career, so be it (pauses) but don't think it will mean I'm an unimportant helm officer. I'll be in the thick of everything interesting and exciting. I want to make a difference. (grins)

What do you enjoy doing outside of Starfleet?

Actually, I'm a very big fan of 20th century pop music. Rock and roll, dance techno, rythm&blues, etc. I have several holodeck programs on the subject. I've been to the legendary Woodstock concerts and I have a dance club where I am the featured DJ. It is a very interesting and enlightening hobby. The 20th century was a very controversial and intriguing time and the music is a powerful reflection of that. I also study history with a great deal of zeal. I especially follow the history of the United States of America on Earth during its existence before the third World War. I also like piloting exercises.

Who has been most influential for you since you joined Starfleet?

I'd have to say, Commander Maiken Bajim. I've served alongside him on the Isannah since I arrived. I've spent more time with him I suppose. I'm not the best at making friends but I admire is courage, and authority. He's the kind of guy who takes a no-win situation and turns it into a fighting chance at hope. I'd like to say the same of myself, and I always strive to do so.

In closing, do you have any other thoughts about the career you've choosen, the lifestyle and sacrificies.

If anyone says that Starfleet is an easy career choice, they are wrong. It takes guts, courage, honor, discipline and a fighting will to survive out there in the harshest of conditions. You learn respect and an understanding of authority. An old saying says, "With your shield or on it." and all that basically means is that you should have death before dishonor. That is the life I've chosen and the sacrifice I make. I wouldn't trade it in for anything. It is my life and without it, I wouldn't be making a difference.
