Personal History
Kimonzi Lahl showed a willingness and aptitude for engineering from a young age. Whenever her parents or other family members would give her various gifts and toys, more often than not she would have them disassembled. Whenever she was asked about it, she would often reply with what the most interesting mechanical feature of the toy or gift was. As such, when she eventually applied to Starfleet Academy, it was no surprise to her family that she decided to major in Engineering.
What was a surprise to her family was when she took a two year break in her studies to apply to the Trill Symbiosis Commission to receive a symbiont. Prior to her turn in the Academy, Kimonzi had not shown any interest in receiving a symbiont, but apparently something had changed while she was completing her studies. Of course, they were happy as could be when Kimonzi was initially selected to be the newest host of the Lahl symbiont.
Once Kimonzi had received her symbiont, she returned to the Academy to finish her studies and eventually was posted to the fleet with Starbase 118.
Kimonzi's first assignment and mission was with the U.S.S. Octavia E. Butler, where she joined the team searching for information at Port Caray.
Service History
First Mission
After graduating from Starfleet Academy, Kimonzi Lahl was assigned to the U.S.S. Octavia E. Butler . Her first mission was the Butler's investigation into the Omicron Vector IV system. Initially, the young ensign presented to the portion of the crew sent to Port Coray to gather information on the system in question before reuniting with the ship in the system. Once fully on board the Butler, Kimonzi was part of the initial away team sent to the U.S.S. Unity Dow to investigate the disappearance of its crew. While there, Kimonzi suffered from hallucinations seemingly brought about after interacting with alien technology that had infested the Dow. After resuming power on the Dow, Kimonzi then worked with Lieutenants Josh Herrick and Karen Stendhal on the Butler, investigating power fluctuations in the hydroponics lab. While there, Kimonzi found another of the devices similar to the ones she had found on the Dow after interacting with it, Kimonzi and the two lieutenants began transporting out of phase to an alien station, the surface of Omicron Vector IV, and the Butler. After some percussive maintenance of the device in question, Lieutenant Stendhal was split into two separate beings. Kimonzi and the now three Lieutenants then went to the Neurosciences lab where through the help of Lieutenant Rivka Brzezinski they were able to reunited the two separate Lieutenants Stendhal.
Mission Into the Past? Future?
During the scan of the Anomaly found by the U.S.S. Octavia E. Butler and led by Lieutenant Commander Avander Promontory and Lieutenant Josh Herrick, Kimonzi Lahl was thrown into the distant future along with the rest of the crew. She helped lead repairs to the ship after the damage that occurred during the trip through the anomaly.
After repairs were made, Ensign Lahl was on the team that was charged with providing a distraction while two other teams stole a time crystal to return the Butler to its original time. Unfortunately, the explosives she had been sent with, along with Commander Promontory and Lieutenants Nilsen and Richards were set to explode prematurely. During the resulting explosions, Ensign Lahl suffered injuries from the shockwaves. As a result, her past host Vedrin Lahl asserted himself briefly.
After returning to the Butler, Kimonzi was thrown back in time to the launch of the U.S.S. St. Albans along with Lieutenant Commander Katsim Peri, as well as Lieutenants Lhandon Nilsen and Arturo Maxwell. During that time, Kimonzi’s injuries worsened, with her often falling and nearly blacking out. However, she was able to eventually find the shard of the time crystal and returned to her proper time and the U.S.S. Octavia E. Butler. After the mission, she was diagnosed with hyrdochepalus in the Lahl Symbiont. Dr. Jania Nis successfully performed surgery on the symbiont, before returning it to Kimonzi and saving her life.
Taking and Giving Fire, the Koreli IV Story When the Octavia E. Butler first came into the Koreli IV System, Kimonzi was selected to sort through various pieces of intelligence that the ship was receiving from the planet and outwards. While in the process of doing so, it was discovered that the ship’s computers were running slow, due to what was eventually found to be the “Crown Prince” of the planet attempting to upload his father’s consciousness into the Butler’s computer system. Eventually, the computer was shut down as a result of the incident.
After getting the computer partially back online, Kimonzi was on the team that investigated “Lake Lahl”, discovering technology that had been stolen from the lost Starfleet vessel U.S.S. Suesser. While there, she came under fire by the Zet with Dr. Jania Nis and Lieutenant Jack Kessler.
Finally, Kimonzi was back on the bridge of the Octavia E. Butler with Captain Rouiancet, Lieutenant Kessler, and Dr. Sevantha Saa. While there, a Zet reclamation fleet entered the system with the intent of taking the system from the Crown Prince and his Uncle. While the enemy fleet approached, Kimonzi was part of the team that came up with the idea to essentially “throw” a shuttle at warp to cause destruction of the other vessel. This did lead to the Zet stating that they were going to work on the tactic themselves.
