Background

Ellie is the middle child, with an older brother and younger twin siblings. Like many middle children, she was able to fly mostly under the radar which was a blessing and a curse. Her father was a Starfleet officer and when Ellie was 3, her family joined her dad on a starship. Because of this, Ellie tends to say she always knew she wanted to join Starfleet. While her dad was a science officer, however, Ellie eventually found a passion for medicine - largely due to the bond she had with the CMO who helped her with her various cuts and bruises she got as a rambunctious kid.

Ellie learned to be rather self-sufficient, especially once the twins were born. Her childhood adventures of running through the corridors and hiding in jeffries tubes, later morphed into activities like hiking or running to relieve stress. Unfortunately, her independence can sometimes lead to her questioning authority because she would prefer doing things her way. However, her time at the academy helped her learn to be better with teamwork.

Ellie has a strained relationship with her mother, who wanted Ellie to remain a civilian rather than follow her father’s footsteps after he was injured on an away mission. While her father recovered, her mother remained convinced that Starfleet was far too dangerous.

Ellie opted to go through the full medical training at the Academy and as such is a full MD. She focused on internal/general medicine, but takes an particular interest in xenobiology.
