History

David suffers from chronic insomnia, which was brought on during the two years he wore the control collar while working for the Ferengi by the manipulation of his bio-chemistry to keep him alert, awake and hunting down both people and property. Because he’s known to go days without sleeping, David’s required to keep a timepiece on him at all times to monitor his waking cycle.

His bio-chemical levels were discovered to maintain themselves as such a high level during Sidney Riley‘s tenure as CMO about the USS Independence, there still has not been a solution to how to reverse the process and damage the control collar did to his body.

In the beginning of 2384, David was caught inside biomechanoid’s sphere rescuing one of the ship’s civilians, a Betazoid child. Unfortunately, due to the structure’s imminent collapse, he was left with one option to escape and detonated a phaser against the hull in free fall. David was exposed to space for nearly sixty seconds before the USS Independence-A beamed him directly to Sickbay, where he was under the care of Dr. Vojana Satscher who interfaced with LtCmdr Toni Turner to save his life and rebuild him.

Psychological Profile

Bits and pieces come out regarding David’s profile, although his prior studies in psychology make it a difficult to ascertain the complete picture, as well as his tendency to avoid his own personal feelings.

It’s known at the age of sixteen, David and the sister in all but name, Deborah, entered a family bond, as she was going through her final transition. What happened in the cavern beneath the Martian sands is not known during the seven days, but it’s rumored David withstood the onslaught of a T6 coming into her ability.

His earlier years under Captain Nathan are a complete mystery. Absolutely nothing is recorded of his time serving as a crew hand through negotiator aboard the freighter Skiptrace. It is, however, well known David went negotiating with the Ferengi and landed himself in their bond. For the two years he worked with them, the control collar he wore severely damaged his bio-chemistry and drove him into a near permanent insomnia cycle, unable to sleep, which is believed to be the ground zero point where he dismissed his emotions to adopt an expressionless, non-emotional outlook.

David has dealt with several factors throughout the course of his life, from the experiences of his youth to his adult years and faced with a near impossible task of bringing a conclusion to the circustances of family deaths. He has been always job-focused above family-focused, almost to the extent of being a workaholic.

He likes his victories, but not at the expense of someone else. He has, in every instance, gone out of his way to help and protect both his friends, his crew. His relationships have always been far and few between, his romantic interests rarely acted on. It’s known he’s jokingly referred to his prior relationships as “volunteers”, but reviewing what’s known about both his past and present, it can be determined David Cody is working toward something.

Whether it’s some kind of redemption, or a man in search of himself, David still remains a bit of an enigma.

Telepathic Status

None himself, but he likes to get himself tested every now and again. He has been referred to as “telepathic as a rock”.
