The Delta series is the fourth existing model of Soong-Type Androids developed under the supervision of Dr. Helen Mirren, Vulcan Science Academy and Starfleet Engineering Corps under the Epsilon Program. Delta features breakthroughs in our understanding of new technologies acquired throughout the known galaxy during the last three decades and improves upon security precautions designed to curtail the possibility of using the machine as a weapon against the Federation.

Epsilon-Delta Operational Log

Pre-Starfleet

  • Classified.

Starfleet Life

  • 238306.17 - Delta completes her final cadet cruise at USS Centris.
  • 238312.01 - Transferred to Utopia Planetia for extensive programming and modification.
  • 238306.17 - Delta is promoted to Lt.JG and assigned to Discovery-B as Chief of Operations.
  • 238302.06 - 238305.10 - Assisted in investigation of alien derelict in Avalon Sector and evacuation of USS_Discovery-B following successful hijacking of Discovery-B| by Son'a agents. Delta encountered an ancient self-operating library which downloaded the contents of its database before destroying itself.
  • 238306.04 - Underwent refit at Deep Space 285 following extensive repair to mechanics. Positronic unit intact.

Specifications

The Epsilon Program was jointly commissioned in 2372 by Starfleet Engineering Corps (SEC) and the Vulcan Science Academy (VSA). Much of the Epsilon series blueprint is classified under protection of Starfleet Intelligence, however, Dr. Mirren's reputation as an expert on Soong-type androids is well-known in the Federation. Epsilon Delta's primary and secondary missions are to minimize risks to civilians and Starfleet personnel and better understand interstellar social dynamics.

The Delta series version is the fourth model to be commissioned under the supervision of Dr. Helen Mirren, VSA and SEC. Delta features breakthroughs in our understanding of new technologies acquired throughout the known galaxy during the last three decades and improves upon security precautions designed to curtail the possibility of using the machine as a weapon against the Federation.

Epsilon androids are gender neutral but the Delta series design is mutable for a limited period following a specialized regeneration cycle. Currently, the Delta series' is technically a gynoid, however, the functions necessary to establish a sexual relationship with the Delta series remain untested. In the unlikely event of a sexual liason, the responsible party will be advised of the potential dangers involved.

The Epsilon series has several power modes designed to protect the unit and carry out its directives to add to interstellar knowledge at minimal risk of casualties. In standard operating (SO) mode, she will record up to 50 petabytes of non-essential data before automatically interfacing with a backup and regeneration routine. Emergency mode (EM) prioritizes the protection of life over tasks devoted to this second mission, dumping non-essential data. A third mode (T), explained below, results in the loss of the unit.

All modes (except T Mode) ensure that the unit's classified construction is protected against subterfuge, vacuum-damage and many forms of directed and ethereal energy. Like previous Soong-type androids, Epsilon Delta is resistant to high-velocity projectiles but not invulnerable to directed energy, including energy emitted from phasers, disruptor fire, quantum explosives or matter/anti-matter collisions.

The Delta series uses a lightweight classified alloy in over 70 percent of her construction. However, the density of the classified alloy, in effect, makes the Delta series invulnerable to most sensor technology. This is an intentional security precaution designed to protect sensitive information regarding the nature of her construction.

All four Epsilon units were designed to serve as emergency beacons and mobile communications hubs in the event of a ship-board emergency where primary systems are off-line. The unit itself can directly interface with all Federation-compliant communications systems and even act as a universal translator.

After the events surrounding the Battle of Bassen Rift and the Soong-type Android, B4, a series of safety protocols were developed by SEC and Starfleet Intelligence, including the Terminator Mode and its submodes - passive and aggressive. The latter terminator mode was designed to deliver collateral damage in the event of capture or attempts at reverse-engineering. Passive mode initiates a destruction routine that renders everything but the classified alloys unsalvagable.

Profile on Dr. Helen Mirren

Mirren's ancestry dates back to Ancient Earth, before the Eugenics Wars. She is an expert in cybernetics and a prominent historian whose thesis was on Khan Noonien Singh and the exploits of James Kirk and USS Enterprise-A. She is under unique entry restrictions when traveling within the Klingon empire. Since she is a special envoy, Starfleet has assigned her an elevated security presence.

Dr. Mirren is the director of the Epsilon Initiative and maintains an office aboard Deep Space 285 in the Avalon Sector.
