Sim guide
Looking good from my view point sir :) Lt Cmdr Alexander Richards, talk 12:24, 27 February 2015 (CST)
Font squeeze into card :)
Hey noticed the longer name for species. You can tell it to change the font size to squeeze it into the space:
I just added font tags to that: |SPECIES=Betazoid/Vulcan ♫ Rich ▪ talk ▪ 118Wiki Administrator 10:02, 1 April 2015 (CDT)
Mellitus Species
I looked at them and as they are currently described and written up they are not considered to be an intelligent species but some form of simplistic animal life form. The master animal list is a future project that has yet to be seriously tackled. Canreb (talk) 12:02, 16 April 2015 (CDT)
Become a wiki admin?
Saw your declaration and recent activity cleaning up stuff. Would you be interested in becoming a wiki admin? If so, send a request to the EC. It'd be nice to have another set of hands.
118Wiki:Operations may also be of interest to you. ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 10:14, 29 April 2015 (CDT)
Sim name space
Do you mean name space like 118Wiki:, Special:, and MediaWiki: or do you mean creating a special category for orphaned sims? ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 19:34, 4 May 2015 (CDT)
- Ah. Well, looking into this, it looks like it would require some config from Jordan/Wolf, which we can ask, but would a category work just as well? ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 19:57, 7 May 2015 (CDT)
- It is a possibility as seen here custom namespaces, but I'm not as knowledgeable about the config and I wonder about this disclaimer:
- Do it early: Manipulation of $wgExtraNamespaces must be completed during MediaWiki initialization; for instance it cannot be manipulated in a post-initialization hook like $wgExtensionFunctions.
- Also, since there are a lot of sims already on the wiki, it would require moving a lot of pages that are already categorized under Category:SIMs or individual character sim categories. I'm also not sure if we WANT to exclude sim pages from searches by default. ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 15:32, 9 May 2015 (CDT)
- The disclaimer is there because while you can edit it post installation, it may not work properly in any hooks, IIRC. At least from what I've read. The reason we'd want to move it to a custom namespace is fairly simple: there are times you don't want to search a sim and instead want the wiki info. I've ran across this before where sims would come up first. If it's in a namespace, I can opt to ONLY search the Main namespace. Ceciri (talk) 00:36, 10 May 2015 (CDT)
- All right. Well, the next step would be to contact Jordan/Wolf and request he add the SIM: namespace. Feel free to CC me or mention you've discussed it with other wiki contributors as something you think would be useful. He usually likes some context for requests. :) ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 11:30, 10 May 2015 (CDT)

Re: Wiki Ops
Hey there! I am so sorry for the late reply - it's been a hilariously busy week for me. To join wiki ops, send me a forums message with your email address and I'll connect you up with the team! :D ♣ Deliera ▪ talk ▪ Chief of Wiki Ops 18:00, 5 May 2015 (CDT)
wikilinking to categories
Hey, saw you have the url links to categories on your page. You can actually link to a category within the wiki by putting a colon before the word category. This is also how you can link to a file without actually displaying it. Examples:
[[:Category:SIMs]] [[:File:Galaxy class.jpg]]
gives you Category:SIMs and File:Galaxy class.jpg. ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 13:03, 19 May 2015 (CDT)
Loki sub-Page
Hey, thanks for showing me that. It was created quite awhile ago. Go ahead and nuke it! I don't need it. Nugra (talk) Commanding Officer of the USS Victory 20:15, 20 May 2015 (CDT)
Ship classes
Yeah we can try to save as many as possible, integrating them into the rest of the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards section. ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 12:42, 18 June 2015 (CDT)
Ashmore NPC page
Please, go ahead and delete! Apparently, he's a character I made seven(!) years ago but never developed, and I can't for the life of me imagine what I intended to do with him. Away he goes! Cheers-- Onewhoisseveral (talk) 13:02, 20 June 2015 (CDT)
Orphaned pages Constitution
Thank you for asking. The science one can be deleted. The Marine one will be relinked again once we have Marine detail on board. :)
Orphaned page
Hi - if you could leave it then that would be great. I'm planning a day fixing Chen's wiki pages tomorrow which may result in a complete overhaul or may not - I'll be planning out what I want to do at some point this evening. If it needs to be killed, I'll get rid of it! :)
Thanks for flagging it up! Chen (talk) 07:57, 7 July 2015 (CDT)
John Paul Jones
I had turned off those links since the ship is unapproved and appears to be a fantasy created by a former player. I've gone ahead and deleted the orphans as well (the poor orphans!) :P ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 00:34, 11 July 2015 (CDT)
FNS orphans
You can delete them. They've outlived their usefulness. >:) ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 11:29, 12 July 2015 (CDT)
Izuldi Orphaned page
I think I originally planned to do something with it, but that would have been years ago, so go ahead and delete it. Thanks. -Varaan (talk) 22:34, 12 July 2015 (CDT)
ID pages
You should leave them as they may be adopted by future ships and rosters at some point. ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 04:03, 25 July 2015 (CDT)
- I understand, but I don't think it would be helpful or productive to manually add them to a page listing just to keep them from being orphans since it's far easier to just let them automatically get added to the Category:ID subpages category as they are now. They should be easy enough to identify and ignore on the orphans list. ♫ Rich ▪ 118Wiki Administrator ▪ Send Message 20:33, 25 July 2015 (CDT)
