History and Background

The Early Years

T'Mar is the daughter of a full-blood Vulcan male and a half-Vulcan half-Betazoid female. Growing up in Vulcan, she struggled with her empathy and keeping her own emotions in check. As a young child she was sent to intensive training to control her ability to sense others emotions, although she still struggles keeping her emotions in check all the time. Although her parents wanted her to join the Vulcan Science Academy, T'Mar decided to join StarFleet and have a better opportunity to meet other species, despite her struggles with her empathic abilities. At the Academy she majored in Security and minored in Ops, where she first met Debra Cross. Cross was one of her instructors at the academy and later became a security officer under T'Mar on the Apollo, before being switched over to tactical.

Relationships

T'Mar was bonded with Salek, a male Vulcan scientist who is currently studying dark matter aboard a Vulcan vessel in deep space. In an effort to control her emotions more effectively, T'Mar began having training sessions with a Betazoid security officer, Lt. JG Zage Bolani. Bolani was training T'Mar on how to use her empathic abilities. The logic was that if she could understand how to use her abilities, she could effectively suppress the emotions she senses from others. During this time, the pair grew close. After surviving the terrorist attacks on the planet of Izar, the two began dating. T'Mar finally revealed to him that she is bonded and to her relief Zage handled it relatively well. However, she has not decided if she will continue to express some emotions or go back to suppressing them. To complicate matters, she was Bolani's direct superior and the two were working on maintaining a healthy professionalism when on duty when T'Mar was suddenly transferred off of the Apollo. When the two said goodbye, neither admitted how deep their feelings went, but both suggested that they did not want things to end. The pair barely spoke after T'Mar's transfer and the Apollo's destruction and their relationship status is undetermined at this time. T'Mar also learned that Salek was killed when his ship was destroyed by a wave of interference in subspace.

It was only after about a year on the Apollo that T'Mar had taken the time to try to better know her crewmates. She had at one time considered Viktor Lanius a friend, although after the mission on Quatal Minor the two had a falling out over her decision to chase the enemy and not turn back. They have since "made up" but their relationship has not been the same since. Recently, T'Mar has made an effort to better know others of the senior staff, including, most surprisingly, Sundassa Faranster who also had been upset by T'Mar's decision on Quatal Minor. The two worked closely on Izar to take down the terrorists and Sundassa has earned T'Mar's respect. The pointy-eared pair of women tested their newfound friendship by using the holodeck to learn how to joust. This ended with them quite bruised, yet helped T'Mar bond with Sundassa. With Sundassa's promotion to First Officer, the two were more likely to work together which pleased T'Mar, but just as with Zage, it came to a halt with her transfer orders. She did not have time to say goodbye to her friend, but intends to keep in touch, even if it is not logical.

T'Mar also has an odd relationship with the former Chief Tactical Officer, Debra Cross. Cross is T'Mar's former instructor, yet T'Mar was her superior officer when she was assigned to the Apollo. While T'Mar still views Cross as her instructor, she is still a higher rank, making the relationship quite complicated. The two shared an officer of both departments, forcing them to spend more time working together, however Cross was reassigned to the USS Avandar.

Personal Information

This section is a work in progress

T'Mar is a quite reserved individual and struggles to get close to anyone. In spite of this, she has managed to open up to a handful of co-workers over the years. Being part Betazoid, T'Mar always struggled to find a balance between her Vulcan upbringing and her empathic side. While some may view her abilities as a benefit, she has always viewed it as a weakness. As a small child, her mother sent her away to undergo strict training to suppress her abilities, but it was not until T'Mar met Zage Bolani that she discovered that she could control her abilities better when she understood how it worked. While it was still a daily struggle, for the most part T'Mar was able to keep her emotions under control.
After serving as Chief of Security for several years on the USS Apollo, T'Mar was taken by surprise when she was transferred off of the ship to the Gemini. It was then that she learned that the ship was being commanded by Liam Frost and she had been hand picked by him to be his First Officer. It was one of the proudest moments of T'Mar's career, but that did not last. After several difficult missions, including one that resulted in the death of an officer on the Away Team T'Mar was leading, she once again felt herself spiraling out of control. It did not help her cause when one of the ship's doctors Jerry Reid performed an experimental procedure that exposed T'Mar to an overwhelming amount of emotions. T'Mar was put on a treatment program, but she realized that the damage was done and she had lost her confidence in her ability to serve as First Officer. She did not want to leave the Gemini or Frost, however, as it had become almost like a family and home for her. After a discussion with Frost, she was placed in a Mission Specialist role where she was able to continue to advise him, but take a step back from other responsibilities that came with running a ship. While this change was emotionally hard on her, T'Mar was determined to find a way to get her career back on track in the long term.
