History

When Avar was young, he fell from his houses porch onto a rock. He almost didn't survive and the accident is thought to have been responsible for the early onset on Pon Farr, resulting in the birth of a son with a female vulcan named Sian (237005.04-238510.09, Deceased).

His parent's death was a traumatic time, occurring around his entry into the academy and almost stopped him from joining Starfleet altogether. At the academy, Luna studied psychology, medicine and ops mainly.

• Herbert

Herbert came to live on Vulcan when he was 14 years old to live with his Vulcan grandparents after he was orphaned. He had an anger management problem. Herbert was born on Earth in the city of San Fransisco. His parents were both Starfleet officers.

Herbert traveled a lot. When he was 13, he accompiaied his parents on a routine mission on their ship. The mission turned out to be not so routine after all. Halfway through it, they were attacked by an assailant unknown. The ship was lost and its crew dead, save a few, and Herbert. As the ship was being destroyed, Herbert's parents shoved him into an excape pod and released it. They died and he survived. He was eventually picked up by another Starfleet ship and taken back to Earth where it was determined that he would go live with his grandparents on Vulcan.

Herbert hated Vulcan almost as soon as he stepped foot on it. He hated the desert and the air. On his fifth day on the planet, he met Luna. Luna was only 12 years old at the time. Luna and Herbert became enemies very quickly after the first day they met.

Luna was walking back to his home after wandering the city with his friends. Herbert noticed Luna walking and went to join him. They talked while Luna walked closer to his home and Herbert followed. Eventually, they got to their futures. Herbert wanted to be a merchant and travel randomly through space to sell his products. Luna, however, wanted to be a Starfleet officer. Herbert hated Starfleet and opposed this very strongly. Luna simply stated, "That is your opinion." and walked away from him.

Herbert hated Luna from that day forth and opposed everything he did. One day, Herbert was harrassing Luna at the center of Hresha when Luna suddenly went inside a building and locked the door behind him. Herbert walked to it and tried to open it, but it was too late. A visious storm hit and suddenly every door in the city was locked. Herbert ran from one end of the city to the other in search of shelter. He had finally spotted some at the bottom of a hill. He began to climb down, and as he was doing this, slipped on mud and fell.

He rolled down the hill over rocks and anything that was in his way. When he finally reached the bottom, he couldn't move. He had broken at least five bones. The next day, Luna found him laying at the bottom of the hill. Luna slowly and carefully climbed down, then checked Herbert over with his eyes. He turned and went back up the hill leaving Herbert alone. Very soon afterwards, a pair of medics came and took him to a hospital. There, they healed him. However, his "parts" were too badly injured to save and they were removed.

Herbert knew Luna's son before Luna knew he had a son. Herbert and Susak got along all right until Sian revealed the fact that Susak's father was Avar. Herbert had plotted to kill Susak as sson as he had gotten a chance. The chance never came however, until one day as Susak was at the bottom of the same hill Herbert had fallen down, Herbert created a rockslide. Sian was close by however and ran to Susak to move him out of the way. She picked him up and began to run as far away from the hill as she could get, but she wasn't fast enough. Knowing she wasn't going to get away, she kneeled down and held Susak underneath her. The rocks killed Sian, but she saved Susak, who was found later when they found Sian. Herbert was never discovered as having killed Sian.

Herbert still hates Luna as much as someone can hate another. Luna hadn't injured Herbert until his shore leave on the planet Vulcan after he was posted on the USS Drake.

Friends

• T'Pol

T'Pol was born in Hresha, Vulcan. She first met Avar at Starfleet Academy. The first thing she saw him do was try to sneak out of a biology class. T'Pol caught him and he was punished. But instead of becoming enemies over the incident, they became very close friends.

T'Pol thought about Starfleet when she was 15, but decided against it. Eventually her parents forced her to leave Vulcan and do something with her life. She chose to join Starfleet. After the first day, she began to enjoy herself. Avar walked everywhere with her. They were no attracted to each other, however.

T'Pol finished the first year at the top of the class. The second year saw her take a turn for the worse though. Early in the year, she was involved in an accident that cost the lives of three cadets. She and the other three were in the environmental labs. Two of the three were humans. They were goofing around and ignoring T'Pol's warnings about the dangerous controls in the room. Just as she was about to throw them out of the room, one of them leaned on a button. The oxygen levels of the room began to drop. In their surprise, the humans accidentally pushed two other buttons that turned off the gravity and changed the carbon dioxide mixture of the air. T'Pol attempted to reach the closest human, but he floated to another side of the room. T'Pol catapaulted herself off of a pole to another nearby cadet. She grabbed onto him and managed, through their combined efforts to reach the door.

As soon as they were out, T'Pol laid down the cadet she saved and was about to go back in when the doors clamped shut due to the environmental problems inside. T'Pol managed to communicate to a superior officer the problem. An evacuation team was already on its way. But when the doors opened, it was too late. The three inside were dead. T'Pol was decorated for bravery in assisting another officer. After the accident however, her grades began to slip. She drew into herslef more, and stopped talking to Avar.

By the end of the second year, she was halfway down her class. She waited another year then dropped out altogether from Starfleet Academy. She blamed her leaving on the multiculturalism of Starfleet.

Avar didn't see her again until shore leave when posted to the Drake. They are currently romantically involved.
