The recent upgrade in the basic design specs of the class's weapons and shields make the Steadfast-A, and other new Galaxy class vessels, able to adequately deal with the continued threats to Federation peace. The newly comissioned Galaxy Class ships of the Federation fleet continue to hold a valued spot among the fleet. Like the older vessels in this class, these new ships offer a diverse range of abilities and strengths in a versatile, if not sometimes unwieldy, package.

The recent upgrade in the basic design specs of the class's weapons and shields make the Steadfast-A, and other new Galaxy class vessels, able to adequately deal with the continued threats to Federation peace. Although the Steadfast-A is primarily a vessel of exploration and diplomacy, she benefits from these recent upgrades in assisting in battle wings when necessary.

The history of the Steadfast-A obviously is the continuing story of the previous USS Steadfast. The original Steadfast lost its entire saucer section in a battle with the Breen. Her stardrive section was repaired, modified, and attached to a new saucer section to make the Steadfast-A.

Shortly after the commissioning of the Steadfast-A, Fleet Captain Hutton and the crew were reassigned to the USS Morningstar. For as yet unknown reasons, Starfleet Command ordered the de-commissioning of the USS Morningstar and the re-assignment of her crew only a few months after Hutton took command. Fleet Captain Hutton was then given command of the newly rebuilt and re-commissioned USS Steadfast-A. As her first assignment, the Steadfast has been ordered to take younger officers and enlisted crewmen on skills training exercises.
