Backstory/Timeline

Jhereg grew up on the Trill homeworld but never had any desire to be joined and withdrew himself from consideration when he was of age. His father was a schoolteacher until his death 10 years ago and his mother worked as a marine biologist. His mother wanted him to be joined, like his older brother, and the fact that Jhereg did not wish it broke her heart. She holds it against him to this day. She is still a loving mother, though and tries to support his decisions. His older brother, Elric Vegra (Joined Trill) is exploring the Gamma Quadrant as a member of a Klingon crew.

Before leaving for the Academy, he had a tumultuous affair with a married Orion woman whose husband was an older drunken Klingon. It ended due to the old Klingon finding out about the affair and threatening to kill Jhereg. His leaving for the Academy was quite fortuitous because it may have actually saved young Jhereg's life.

Jhereg had always dreamed of joining Starfleet and was excited when his application was accepted. He looks forward with great anticipation at his first assignment to a starship.
