These shuttles were introduced later in 2371 and later became used aboard many starships, including ''Intrepid''-class and ''Sovereign''-class vessels. Despite it's longer length, these vessels actually carry two fewer passengers than Type-8 shuttlecraft. Their design allows for a longer time away from their home ship, possibly weeks at a time. They are able to maintain high warp for extended periods due to their geometric configuration and they house a compact long-range sensor in their deflector dish, making them ideal scouting vessels. | These shuttles were introduced later in 2371 and later became used aboard many starships, including ''Intrepid''-class and ''Sovereign''-class vessels. Shuttlebay
"Located at the dorsal stern of the primary hull, Shuttlebays 1 and 2 take up a significant portion of the aft section of Decks 4 and 5 on the Norway Class. Due to the mission profile of the Norway Class, the shuttlebays extends larger than normal for a vessel its size to accommodate runabouts and ships smaller than Courier-grade that may be the primary mode of transport by entities the vessel’s crew encounter. The Shuttlebays are overseen by Flight Control Officers, and staffed by teams of Helmsmen/Pilots, Engineers and Technicians, and Operations personnel that are based on the Flight Operations office under the supervision of the Flight Control Officer."~ACTD
Auxiliary Craft Complement
Type 8 Medium Short-Range Shuttlecraft
These craft first came into use in 2371 for use with the Intrepid-class during short-term missions.

Type 9 Medium Long-Range Shuttlecraft
These shuttles were introduced later in 2371 and later became used aboard many starships, including Intrepid-class and Sovereign-class vessels.
Specifications
Classification Shuttlecraft Length 8.5 meters Mass 2.61 metric tons Capacity 2 crew (4 passengers total) Speed Warp 4 Armaments Type-IV phaser emitters Defenses Deflector shields Hull Composition Tritanium alloy Special Features None Individual Vessels da Vinci and Nimoy
Type 11 Heavy Long-Range Shuttlecraft
Specifications
Classification Shuttlecraft Length 16 meters Mass 28.11 metric tons Capacity 4 crew (6 passengers total) Speed Warp 4 Armaments Tachyon burst, phaser arrays Defenses Deflector shields Hull Composition Tritanium alloy Special Features Ejectable warp core, tractor beam emitters Individual Vessels Hawking and Archimedes
Work Bee-Type Maintenance Pods
These small auxiliary vehicles are primarily used for inspection and repairs to the external areas of a starship.
Specifications
