239012.19 USS Excalibur-A Chythar Skyfire
|
Ship Award - Kali Nicholotti The writer behind our very own Chythar Skyfire came to us as so many officers do; having the basics, but needing some guidance in certain aspects of simming. For those who have been around since he came aboard, the improvement in his sims is something you can’t help but notice. Having worked hard with mentors and command staff, Skyfire’s writer has gone from the basic, minimally structured sims, to characterized sims that really make him part of our storyline. The effort behind this accomplishment has not gone unnoticed, consisting of lots of writing, rewriting, critiques, and questions, and so, I am proud to present the Genesis Badge to Mister Skyfire! Congrats! Thank you for the hard work you’ve put in to making your simming more fun and inspiring for everyone who gets the chance to read it.

Ship Award - Cassandra Egan Manno Most times, players are nominated only once for a given award. Sometimes, if a player has been particularly active -- in playing a particular duty post, say -- then she or he might receive two nominations for the same award. But never before have I seen one player receive six nominations for the same award! In fact, they weren't so much nominations as they were requirements at the end: there was so much consensus here that there was no way Zephyr wouldn't receive this award. Her nominators noted her active participation related to all facets of this award, from keeping the Garuda's and the Victory's wiki pages up to date to acting as the unofficial welcome wagon for the whole SB118, and I'd like to note here, too, that I've rarely seen someone become so integral. Zephyr has become more than the welcome wagon for the group -- she's our unofficial face, and we couldn't ask for a better one. Congratulations, Zephyr!

Ship Award - Quinn Reynolds Our last award of the year, and I'm very happy to present it to Lieutenant Commander Chythar Skyfire. Zephyr, you've always shown huge enthusiasm and dedication when it comes to mentoring our new members, displaying a great deal of kindness and patience in helping them feel at home as part of the Gorkon's crew. We all remember being new once, and we all know how daunting it can be to join a group of 12 or so other people, so I'm incredibly thankful for all your hard work in this area. Congratulations!

Special Fleet Award - Quinn Reynolds We all love our wiki! It's a fantastic resource for characters, ships and the past history of the group and useful for members both old and new. Lt. Commander Chythar Skyfire is one of our most active contributors, updating ship, mission and character pages. Not only that, but she often acts as a tutor to other members, helping and teaching them how to incorporate changes from the simple to the complex -- indeed many of the nominations we received were from her grateful students. Thank you for all your hard work, Commander, and congratulations on your award!

239506.27 USS Veritas Chythar Skyfire
|
Ship Award - Roshanara Rahman Since coming aboard Veritas, Dr. Chythar Skyfire's writer Zephyr has been motivated to continue improving as a player and see through a long-running "redemption arc" for her character. Yet Zephyr's talents as a player go beyond just a single character. She shows clear effort and thought put into each sim she sends, whether it be for Dr. Skyfire or one of her equally fleshed out PNPCs and MSPNPCs. It was especially in her recent efforts playing other characters wildly different from her main that her abilities as a writer were showcased to her fellow players. Through her writing, all of her characters come alive off the screen, with their own motivations, fears, and desires, and she consistently demonstrates the high standard of simming we all aspire to reach.

239706.27 USS Veritas Timothy Alentonis
|
Ship Award - Roshanara Rahman Zeph, the writer behind Alentonis is one of our most experienced simmers, so it's not surprising that his writing has been a joy to read. Still, I have to say that out of all his characters, Alentonis is probably my favorite of his to date. From what began as just an NPC (and a civilian one at that), Zeph has sculpted a three-dimensional character with an interesting backstory and perspective because of his IC "non-traditional" route to Starfleet. Beyond Alentonis, Zeph brings that same care into showing more about the lives of his characters outside of missions across his other characters aboard Veritas, helping the ship feel more like a truly lived-in place. He is well-deserving of this recognition.

239806.30 USS Chin'toka Cadfael Peters
|
Fleet Award -- Mei'konda Delano A highly experienced member of the fleet who’s played almost every duty post that we offer, Zephyr, the player of Peters, came aboard the Chin’toka as a dedicated helmsman, because we were lucky enough to have an Operations Chief already. Helm can present a challenge for players, because of the occasionally limited nature of the role, but Cadfael Peters has brought life to both his character and to the position of helm by taking the initiative when he can to describe the movements of ships or shuttles through space, particularly during exciting moments like ship to ship battles. He takes every opportunity to describe things visually interestingly that makes it easy for his crewmates to be drawn into the action, and he always gives his fellow players opportunities to add in by communicating directly between the helm and their stations in unique and well thought out ways. The Chin’toka is very lucky to have Zephyr, and I’m thrilled to present him with the Pilot’s Sextant for 2021!

Ship Award -- Mei'konda Delano One of the constant duties of someone on ship staff, is keeping things up to date. Whether that be ideas for sims, or updating the wiki which Riley does well. Whether it's keeping the ship running as a member of the ship staff, or making sure updates to the Chin'toka's wiki are done, you can always count on Riley to get it done. Whenever someone has an question, or issue with updating their wiki I know I can always ask in the staff or ship chat because I know Riley usually has a solution and always quick to offer help with character wikis. As a member of the ship staff the contributions are also obvious, between offering ideas for plot twists, helping to keep the overall mission plot going or humoring some of our insane ideas that result in a new IC flight maneuver, Riley is always good for it. Zephyr, the player of Cadfael Peters along with several other characters and PNPCs over the years, is a player that I've served with since I was a Lieutenant Commander many years ago. In that time, he's always been a reliable, hard working player that I knew I could go to for help, particularly in areas where either myself or the ship is weak. Examples would be his expertise in keeping the wiki up to date or being willing to switch main characters on short notice in order to help fill a vacant critical position on the roster, and I've found him to be excellent at adapting to any of those positions, as evidenced by the fact that he won the Pilot's Sextant for his role at the helm shortly after taking the position on. Zephyr is one of those critical staff members that any Captain should be happy to have helping them out.
