Organization and Duties

The Starfleet Marines assigned to the USS Avandar belong to the Charlie Company of the Starfleet Marine Corps' 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment nicknamed "Shadows". Charlie Company is divided into two Squads. The first Squad is primarily assigned to Search And Rescue, and when directed, will assist in hostage rescue. The second squad is primarily assigned to beef up security on board the USS Avandar and when needed can infiltrate hostile areas or carry out other Top Secret Orders that require their skills. The Security Department is responsible for the protection of the interior of the USS Avandar and its occupants.

Marine Staff

The Chief Marine Officer is the marine in charge of overseeing all other marines on board the USS Avandar. They report directly to the captain. The marine admin officer is responsible for any incoming or oug-going messages relevant to the marines and takes care of the general administrative duties. The doctor is responsible for the general wellbeing and health of the marines and can also help out in sickbay when needed of support either of the marine squads on deployment. The armory officer is responsible for all marines weapons and armor, makes sure they are maintained and stored properly and securely. The marine security officers guard the marine complex and prevent unauthorised access.

Squad One: SAR Team

The SAR team is comprised of a leader, a search specialist, two medics, an engineer, comms expert and search dog. They are usually deployed for search and rescue operations, including hostile situations involving hostages. When not deployed on a mission they can be found training in the marine complex. When the ship is facing an emergency and they have no other assigned mission they can be found supporting departments on the ship.

Squad Two: Special Ops Team

The special ops team is comprised of a leader, a weapons expert, a special operations specialist, a combat engineer, a medic/comms expert and a bombs/explosive technician. They are usually deployed into hostile areas where it is too dangerous to send a standard away team. They are usually sent on classified missions and can be found training in the marine complex when not deployed, but will assist other departments when needed. They are ideal for guarding diplomats and beefing up security as well as helping other departments.

Location and Facilities

The two Squads and Staff are on Deck 10 of the USS Avandar next to Deflector Control and the Waverider Access Port.
