Assigned to the sectors around Bajor, the newly commissioned Norway class Kodiak is requested to search for 3 Cardassian cargo vessels, lost 50 years ago in the Badlands. The haulers were loaded with treasures from Bajor, which that government would like returned. Joined by the USS Independence, the two ships conduct a systematic search, till a plasma storm sweeps them into a planetary system. There they discover the ship, and the descendants of the crew and Bajoran slaves. Ironically the Bajorans rule the Cardasians with a ruthless abandon. After making contact with the survivors they are all transported to Kodiak, and returned to Bajor.
