Jack was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and spent most of his life there. His mother was a starfleet officer on leave when she met Jack's father, a native born Hawaiian. Jack's mother left to return to her ship several months after Jack's birth and only returned when her tour of duty was up. Because of that, Jack was raised mainly by his father. Jack was raised in a very active environment. He learned how to surf and spent very little time indoors. When Jack was 14, he became more and more interested in space and engineering. Jack began insisting that he be allowed to apply to the Academy once he graduated school. His mother was ecstatic and pushed him to join. His father, however, didn't particularly care for the idea, but nevertheless was proud that his son was following in his mother's footsteps. Jack struggled for a good amount of time in school with focusing issues. But ended up finishing strong at the prospect of going to the Academy. Jack tries his best to be friendly when he needs to be and serious when necessary. He sometimes has trouble controlling his anger which has gotten him into trouble. He attempts to strive for personal perfection, but has learned over the years to try and maintain a social life as well (something he is still struggling with).
