Popular and friendly, though somewhat vain and narcissistic, Regan Wilde lives life in Starfleet to the fullest. Coming from a life of privilege tempered with battles with alcohol and personal demons, he tries to prove his worth to Starfleet, his crew and friends, and to himself.

The pressure of being at the academy, combined with many years of guilt and self-loathing took a devastating toll on Regan's mental health. To cope with daily life he began neglecting his studies to go to campus parties and have a good time. He started drinking in his second year, and by the first semester of his third year it developed into a serious problem and he began drinking daily and in secret to the point where he depended on the alcohol to get him through the day. After being rescued from Lakata, his father sent him to a special recovery clinic on Vulcan, and he has been clean and sober since 2392, and his father used a lot of the family influence in Starfleet to get him a second chance at Starfleet Academy in 2393.  

Regan very rarely talks about Lakata, only that he ended up there after he was thrown out of the academy by stowing away on a refugee transport. The planet itself is a rough and mostly lawless planet governed with little attention by the Ferengi Alliance, but mostly by criminal gangs. It was revealed in '''A Scouring of Stars''' that he was frequently brutalised by the street gangs, and the Ferengi Governor of Lakata held Regan to ransom. His family privately paid 2,000 bars of gold-pressed latinum to get him back.

* '''[[Randal Shayne]]''': Regan's Captain on the Arrow. A private and somewhat serious man, Regan feels he doesn't have much in common with his CO, and feels like he's embarrassed Shayne by his boisterous personality. He hopes to prove himself to the Captain somehow.

* '''[[R'Ariel]]''' - Regan took an instant liking to the diminutive Caitian/Deltan Counselor. He is grateful for her easy-going and wryly playful nature. The two have a friendly professional relationship, and an almost Big Brother/Little Sister bond.

* '''[[Keneth Nakada]]''' - Keneth and Regan have an amicable friendship, and they enjoy each other's company, though Regan tends to tease him a bit. He considers the engineer to be his best friend on board, cemented by The Brownies of Peace.

* '''[[Artinus Serinus]]''' - Regan's immediate superior in Security. The two are polar opposites in every way, and rarely see eye to eye - professionally or personally. He calls him 'Serious Serinus' behind his back. He hopes they can some day come to an understanding and learn to respect each other.

* '''[[Maxwell Traenor]]''' - Regan never expected to have anything in common with an older man like Maxwell. The two seem opposites, but after the awards party on Atlas Base, the pair helped a drunk and deteriorating Crewman Thompson back to the ship, and Regan opened up to Maxwell about life as a recovering alcoholic, which ended with Regan crying on his shoulder. Now they have a unique friendship, and Regan regards him as a father figure, but also older brother/wing man.
