Childhood

Aiden was born at her grandparent's home in Hawaii, Earth. Her father had left her mother before she had even realised she was pregnant and left Sarah Scott a broken woman; she retreated into herself, becoming cold and aloof, withdrawing from human contact as much as possible. It came as no surprise to anyone that Sarah accepted a position at the Vulcan Science Academy when Aiden was three months old.

She had a difficult childhood; due to the empathic abilities she inherited from her father, she knew from an early age what he had done and just how her mother felt about it. Because of this, she was prone to passionate outbursts, frequently at the most inopportune times, something that both her mother and the Vulcans she associated with disapproved of. As a result, she began ruthlessly suppressing her emotions and empathic abilities by practicing meditation and embracing logic.

• 236507.24: Nearly drowns at sea on a visit to Delta IV (age 6).

Teenage Years

In her later teenage years, it was apparent that her efforts had been remarkably successful, even for a human. Her empathic abilities were buried so deeply it was unlikely she could summon them for use, even if she wanted to, and her emotional control rivalled that of even some Vulcans. Aiden had taken to pushing herself physically too, in an attempt to compete with the superior strength and stamina of the Vulcans; to the extent that she attempted to undergo the Kahs-wan. It was an attempt that ultimately failed, and nearly cost the teenage girl her life, but it is one she has since vowed to repeat and this time succeed at.

Academy Years

It seemed inevitable that Aiden would pursue a career in the sciences, but it came as a surprise to many that she chose to pursue it with Starfleet. As far as Aiden was concerned, it was the only logical choice; only Starfleet could provide her with sufficient challenges she needed in her quest for self-improvement. She passed the entrance examinations easily, but found Academy life much harder than she had anticipated; while a lack of emotions was expected from certain species, it was odd behaviour for human and she found herself regarded as a ‘cold fish’ by many. She approached this as another obstacle to be overcome, and while even now it continues to be a problem for her, she graduated the Academy in the top percentile.
