SIM:Lael Rosek - Do You Wanna Talk About It? (Gorkon)
|Lieutenant Junior Grade Lael Rosek
USS Gorkon NCC 82293
OOC: Takes place after Rosek’s A Call Home.
((Sickbay, USS Yahrala))
::Lael entered Sickbay cautiously. She’d been ordered to go through a psych eval after all that time in Hell. She was a little early, but she could wait.::
::Tobian had been recalled from Risa when the Yarahla was dispatched, and having been filled with such a cheery disposition was well equipped to handle the misery and emotional baggage that would have accompanied the Gorkon’s return. As the chime rang, he set down his PADD.::::
::Worrying her lower lip, Lael stepped through the doors as they opened.::::
Rosek: I had an appointment for a psych eval?
Dalton: Come in and have a seat, Lieutenant. ::He smiled softly before walking to the replicator.:: Can I get you anything before we get started?
Rosek: ::murmurs:: Yes, thank you.
::Tobian got two cocoas, then handed one to her and sat down across from her.::::
Dalton: Whenever you’re ready.
::He had a sip of his drink and let his black eyes search her features. She looked a little worse for wear, but then again...they all did. Perhaps this was just the first of a long line of broken minds he’d have to pick up the pieces for. As many counselors did, he felt that letting them guide the session was in their own best interests.::::
Rosek: ::blushes:: ::murmurs:: I’m not quite sure where to start. I’m used to counselors mostly asking questions. ::pauses thoughtfully:: I suppose we should start with the question Starfleet wants to most know the answer to: Am I okay? ::pauses:: We went through hell. All of us. Things happened that we would have never dreamed could.
Dalton: ::nodded slightly.:: Like what?
Rosek: ::pauses:: We were--as the Earth Old West saying goes--wanted, dead or alive. Every turn the Dominion was looking for us. Erik Jansen put a price on our head and it wasn’t a small one either.
Dalton: This Jansen fellow...who was his counterpart?
Rosek: Alucard Vess ::shudders:: They look so much alike. Still gives me the creeps. My heart starts racing a million parsecs a minute whenever I bump into Alucard in the halls or in Sickbay.
Dalton: Do you feel that you will adapt to his presence in light of these events if you have some time away from him, and the crew for a few days?
Rosek: ::offers a crooked grin:: Maybe. I’m hoping we can all laugh about it later. ::chuckles:: I can just see Alucard pretending to be Erik for Halloween next year just to give us a good scare and make us laugh.
Dalton: Sometimes a comedic approach to one’s fears is the best one. I heard a rumor that Commander Skyfire did his best stand up comedy routine amidst the disaster.
Rosek: ::smiles wanly:: He tried. ::smile fades and her gaze drops to her hands and she murmurs:: But after awhile, everyone stopped laughing.
::Tobian nodded faintly. He understood that folk tend to lose their sense of humor when captured or trapped. Skyfire was no exception: as the saying went, to err is human.::::
Dalton: I don’t blame him for trying to keep smiles on the faces of his crew in the bleakest of circumstances. ::He paused thoughtfully and sipped his cocoa.:: Back to you. Apart from your feelings toward Dr. Vess because of his similarities to his alternate self, do you think you can handle a return to duty?
Rosek: ::shrugs:: Probably with continued counseling. ::snorts:: Listen to me. I HATE counselors and I’m actually wanting to attend more sessions.
::Tobian nodded faintly and had another sip of his cocoa. He was used to people telling him that they hated counseling, and didn’t react with surprise when she volunteered herself for more counseling sessions.::::
Dalton: Alright. I can safely say that’s progress in the right direction and saves me the trouble of having to make it an order. I’ll clear you for light duty and we can probably squeeze in another before we’re sent off again. Sound fair?
Rosek: ::nods:: Probably need one after shoreleave, too. It was a long year.
Dalton: We can certainly arrange that. I’ll sign off on you for now, and we can slot your next one in a couple days.
Rosek: ::nods:: Sounds good.
Dalton: Alright. I’ll call you in a couple days when I see an opening.
::As she left the room, he disposed of the cups and continued helping out with the list of patients, as it was quite the list.::
