Captain Keelha Rhani is currently serving as Commanding Officer of the USS Za.

Personality

Generally quite an easygoing woman, Keelah does, however, possess all the innate cunning and manipulative talents of her kind, even if she doesn't necessarily actually use them in the same sort of way. On duty, she is professional and even-tempered, able to handle crisis situations well - even if the fact that she seems to be having more fun the worse a situation gets can occasionally catch people off guard.

When off duty, she can rarely be found indulging in traditionally relaxing pursuits, far more likely to be found in the gym or running some form of holodeck program designed to 'get the blood pumping'.

Background

The latest generation of a family that originally came to Federation space as liberated slaves, Keelah grew up in the cosmopolitan melting pot that is Earth and its moon as an only child, learning a lot of how other cultures worked - though by far the highest exposure was, perhaps unsurprisingly, to that of Humans.

Always drawn to the idea of action and adventure, she spent as much time as she could get away with hanging around both the Tycho City docks and those that crewed the ships that visited them, talking her way into getting all sorts of tales and stories of what was 'out there'. Eventually, a decision to apply to Starfleet Academy crystalised in her mind, though she never really expected to get in - until the Breen attack on Earth came perilously close to wiping out her whole family, who'd been aboard a transport for a visit to friends on Mars when the assault had begun.

Since then, she has applied herself to the protection of Federation citizens with a dedication that saw her placed in the top 15% of her Academy class, her exceptional kinesthetic sense helping to balance the fact that she wasn't quite as good on the academic side.

Since then, she has served in Starfleet as a loyal, dedicated officer, rising through the ranks until eventually attaining her current position - even if she'd not entirely sure how she's managed it.
