"Mr Promontory, don’t let it be said that I’m not grateful for your assistance. I like to get to know those under my command over food. I’m organising a gathering in the officer's mess, buffet food, I intended to feed the entire ship and still have leftovers. It will be tonight, 20:00 hours, so consider yourself invited."

Commander Althea Ebrahimi-Nilsen was an Operations Officer most known for serving on the USS St Albans. Her most notable work includes leading a research team on the St Albans to test computer-assisted warp-bubble modifications in response to the news that warp drive was damaging subspace in 2370.

Relationships

Ebrahimi-Nilsen had a relationship with Jack Dumitrescu. Later, she met Adams Nilsen, and they had three children: Harold, Alexandru, and Phillip.

Commander Althea Ebrahimi-Nilsen is the grandmother of Lhandon Joseph Nilsen, a starfleet officer currently serving on the USS Octavia E Butler and one who apparently takes after her. He was 14 years old when Ebrahimi-Nilsen passed away.

Early Life

Althea Ebrahimi-Nilsen (née Ebrahimi) was born in 2316 on the planet Gault, a colony settled by people from Siberia and Eastern Europe. From an early age, she demonstrated a keen interest in technology and engineering. In 2334, she enrolled in Starfleet Academy, where she specialised in Operations and Engineering. She graduated with honours in 2338.

Service History

Ensign to Lieutenant Junior Grade (2338-2339): While serving as an operations ensign on the USS Hawthorne, Ebrahimi-Nilsen discovered a critical flaw in the ship's power distribution system during a diplomatic mission. Her quick thinking and engineering expertise prevented a cascade failure that could have endangered the ship and its diplomatic passengers. This lead to her promotion to Lt JG

Lieutenant Junior Grade to Lieutenant (2339-2340): As Assistant Operations Officer, Ebrahimi-Nilsen led a challenging rescue operation when her ship encountered a civilian transport stranded in an unstable asteroid field. She developed a modified tractor beam configuration that allowed for safe retrieval of the transport while maintaining shield integrity. This demonstrated both her technical skills and leadership abilities, leading to her promotion to full Lieutenant just before her assignment to the USS St Albans in 2340.

Lieutenant to Lieutenant Commander (2340-2345): During her early years on the USS St Albans, Ebrahimi-Nilsen show a strong leadership of the Operations department. Her approaches to warp field geometry and power distribution earned her a promotion to Lieutenant Commander in 2345.

Althea Nilsen Off Duty

Lieutenant Commander to Commander (2345-2353): In 2346, Ebrahimi-Nilsen transferred to the USS Buckingham and took the role of Chief Operations Officer, she led several key initiatives including a major refit of the ship's power systems and the development of new safety protocols for high-warp operations. She returned in the USS St Albans in 2350. Her promotion to Commander occurred in 2353, and she gained a growing reputation as a mentor to junior officers. Commander (2353-2380): In her role as Commander, Ebrahimi-Nilsen continued to serve with distinction on the USS St Albans, eventually becoming one of Starfleet's leading experts in warp field dynamics. Her most notable achievement came in 2370 when she led the research team developing computer-assisted warp-bubble modifications in response to the discovery of warp drive's harmful effects on subspace. She retired in 2380 after a distinguished career spanning over four decade

Post Starfleet

Commander Althea Ebrahimi-Nilsen retired from active duty in 2380 after over 40 years of distinguished service. She passed away naturally in 2391. Her contributions to Starfleet's engineering and operations fields, particularly in the advancement of warp field geometry, have had a lasting impact.

Nilsen is remembered for her technical acumen, leadership qualities, and dedication to mentoring young officers. Her grandson Lhandon would later follow in her footsteps by joining Starfleet, serving as a helm, communications, and operations officer, then assistant chief of operations and later a diplomatic officer.

Her influence can be seen in many of her grandson's mannerisms and command style, particularly in his attitude towards crew welfare. Lhandon often described himself as her "favourite grandson," and her legacy continues to influence his career in Starfleet.

The Department of Temporal Investigations hold a large file on Ebrahimi-Nilsen, just like they do with her Grandson Lhandon.
