History

Discovered in the 2390's by the Havley Mining Corporation, and then subsequently they attempted to suppress them - possibly thinking they were not sentient. The USS Veritas established formal first contact with them, and brokered an agreement to halt the brewing conflict by having their territory being respected. However, with different fractions of the race (which seemed to be semi-feudal from first contact) suggest that the relations will still be frosty for a time to come, until a fuller understanding will be reached.[1]

Description

Shaped like a insect-centaur, the Malacosladae are between 1.8 and 2 meters tall, with 6 antennas. They have four eyes. Their torso is violet covered and has two arms, with their lower body composed with 6 legs, in a body that tails off to a point. They looked suspiciously like an ant, with their edges looking sharp (although some have less antenna.). [1][2][3][4]

Physiology

The cocoons they trapped miners in suggest strongly they are capable of emitting a sticky/string like material, however, confirmation of this still unknown. [2]
