Backstory - 2380

In 2380 Katalina Briyal served as an Ensign in the security force at Midway Repair Facility. Though she was only an Ensign, she served as Assistant Chief of Security for the small station, and therefore had plenty of access codes. When the experimental starship USS Trillium docked at Midway, it was clear that someone was attempting to steal it. Katalina revealed herself to be an independent terrorist who planned to steal the starship and blame it on Starfleet officers. She framed and attacked Idril Mar, who was overseeing repairs, putting her in a coma and giving the Mar Symbiont amnesia. Briyal escaped without the Trillium but vowed revenge on those who had tried to foil her plans. It is unknown whether she had actually attended Starfleet Academy, or was simply posing as a security Ensign.

2384

In 2384 she resurfaced on Lememda IV posing as a treasure hunter after the valuable 'Eye of the Sun' artefact. Since no-one on the Away Team had encountered her before (and she had undergone cosmetic surgery to look Human) they chose to trust her, but it was soon evident she was going to betray them and steal the artefact. She was captured and imprisoned on the USS Ronin, but not before being stripped to her skivvies at the amusement of Captain Idril Mar, who remembered very well the ordeal the Ktarian put her through.

2390

In 2390 the Ktarian woman emerged once again in the Ithassa Region, after being believed captive in the Alternate Universe. She appeared to be in league with FTU members and attempted to steal a section of the USS Tiger-A. She had various accomplices and was ultimately captured in Engineering. By that time, she had killed a Tiger engineer. She revealed that when DS17 had its encounter with the Alternate Universe she had been captured by the Gorn and put to work. Earning their trust she managed to replicate Ethan Brice's plans for the trans-dimensional shift machine and dupe her way out of slavery and back into our universe. Upon her arrest she was placed in an airlock, which doubled as her holding cell, and is currently being transported back to prison...
