History
They were just one of the many species conquered and ruled by the Tholians in Bode's Galaxy. However they eventually managed to earn the position of most-trusted-race status within the Tholian Will. This allowed them the freedom and time needed to develop the technology to break Tholian webs. Once it had been perfected they used it to overthrow their masters.
In the ensuing rebellion they savagely attacked the Tholians, destroying many colonies and ships. Finally as a last resort those Tholians that still survived fled. Many scattered, fleeing in any direction that they thought would lead them to safety.
A large group stayed together fighting a slow rearguard with drawl that eventually took them to the old home world of their ancient masters the Shedai. Here they used an ancient device created by the Shedai. It was called the Conduit. It had lain dormant for generations. Untouched and built using technology well beyond anything the Tholians had ever developed.
Somehow the Tholians managed to activate it. All but a couple ships were able to flee through it to our galaxy. Then the Conduit shut down.
Fearful of an eventual Tholian return, the Seltorians sent out large nest ships as mobile bases of operation against any remnants of the Tholians they could locate. It is unknown just how many expeditions were sent out, but it is known that one did go to the Andromeda Galaxy and presumably did not fare well.
Eventually they managed to locate and activate the ancient device built by the Shedai that the Tholians had used to flee to the Milky Way galaxy. They sent through 3 sets of 3 nest ships along with all the support craft they could. Then the Conduit shut down.
Since then no other ships have arrived in our galaxy via the Conduit and the location of the Milky Way Conduit device was a mystery.
The first thing they did was to send out all the scout craft that had come through the Conduit with them. It did not take long for the Seltorians to discover that their old masters, the Tholians had established a new Empire, although this one was considerably smaller than their last one.
Their scouts also discovered an empty system that was ideal for their needs. Their entire fleet was moved to this location and they set about colonizing the 2 class M planets. Defensive satellites and early warning systems were built and scattered about the edge of the system.
For the first 5 years of their presence here in our galaxy they concentrated on building up their defences and preparing for their eventual war with the Tholians. Only when they were ready did they finally send out a small attack fleet to assess the Tholians strength.
It was after this attack that their presence became common knowledge. Unfortunately the escalating conflict between them and the Tholians resulted in and unexpected result that would affect them both.
The Shedai woke up. It seems that when they left the Tholians to fend for them selves in Bode’s galaxy that they had used the Conduits to travel to our galaxy. Once here they had entered into an unusual form of hibernation. The conflict between the Tholians and the Seltorians woke them up.
This panicked the Tholians more than the presence of the Seltorians and the conflict between them fizzled out as they turned their attention towards their old masters.
Government
After their successful revolt, the Seltorians kept the same basic political structure as the Tholian Will in place, just with themselves in charge. In their case they called their government The Seltorian Tribunal.
This name reflected not only the change in leadership but the one major difference between how the 2 governments would work. The Seltorians replaced each Tholian official with 3 of their own. These 3 individuals would work together and when a decision had to be made each had a vote. Majority rules.
Description
The Seltorians are an insectoid species with orange tinted body plating over most of their body. Those areas not protected by the exoskeleton tend to be a pale pink in hue. They have 6 eyes, are remarkably strong and have do not seem to wear any clothes. Instead they will wear black harnesses to hold or carry any equipment, tools or weapons they wish to carry.
Physiology
While they have a fairly simplistic physiology compared to most humanoids it tends to be more resilient to damage and less prone to disease as well. They seem to have an extremely high pain threshold and can survive in hostile conditions longer than most humanoids as well. Unfortunately they are susceptible to extreme heat and cold, both of which cause their internal systems to malfunction.
Psychology
They seem to be a fairly unemotional species. They are driven by a need for survival and the need for revenge against the Tholians. For some reason this need for revenge can over ride both their desire for survival and their seemingly unemotional state.
Federation experts believe that the Tholians must have done something very drastic to cause such a response among the Seltorians.
Religion
There is absolutely no evidence to support the possibility that they have any form of religion or belief in a divine presence of any kind.
Mythology
There is absolutely no evidence to support the possibility that they have or even know what mythology even means. They do not even seem to have a very clear idea of their own history nor do they seem to care.
However the records of their slave status under the command of the Tholians, have taken on a rather unusual aspect that very closely resembles the basic definition of mythology.
Society
They have a communal society with everyone working for the good of the community. Anything is acceptable if it is for the betterment of the majority.
Culture
There is absolutely no evidence to support the possibility that they have any form of culture. No music, art or other forms of artistic expression seem to exist. For that matter they do not seem to take any interest in any that they are exposed to.
Customs
There is absolutely no evidence to support the possibility that they have any. Other than a driving need to kill all the Tholians in existence, the only other driving force in their lives is to work and ensure the survival of the community.
Technology
In most respects they have the same technological abilities and advantages as their old masters the Tholians. The only major difference between them is in weapon technology. The Seltorians had learned to build weapons called the Web Breaker - a weapon uniquely capable of disrupting the Tholian web.
Economy
So far they seem to be completely self sufficient. No data is available to support the possibility that they might have established any trade deals as of this time.
Military
Every single ship they brought with them was a war ship. The back bone of their fleet is 9 dreadnaughts. Each set of 3 dreadnaughts has 9heavy cruisers. Each set of 3 heavy cruisers has 9 light cruisers. The same progression applies to their destroyers and frigates.
Normally you will never find a Seltorian ship by itself. Normally they travel in groups of 3 and usually all 3 ships will be the same size and class although with the frigates they may not all be the same configuration. In their case the 3 frigates are usually made up of a scout, a web breaker and a assault ship.
