Relationships

A security officer on Resolution, Aine and Meidra have started socializing, often joined by Iljor Etan, a brilliant science officer. They are building a solid friendship outside of duty, and a still in Meidra's office.

A science officer on Resolution, he and Meidra quickly bonded over their shared love of history. She sees him as a little brother and is quite protective of him. They meet weekly for lunch to discuss their various ideas for the crew to interact. A book club is being considered.

Her paternal cousin, Alieth was Meidra's closest confidante growing up. They share many secrets, and Alieth is the only one in her family that Meidra trusts completely, at least as long as Alieth isn't behind the wheel of their getaway car.

The Chief Medical Officer on the Resolution. Genkos and Meidra share a wicked sense of humor that has helped them form a strong trust and friendship with each other. Currently, he is mentoring her in the use of her long dormant telepathic ability, as well as being her counselor.

Meidra's current boyfriend. Hamsan, or D.W. to his non Bajoran friends, is an emergency medical technician on the Resolution. They started dating in early 2398, and Meidra is honestly happy for the first time in her life.

Meidra was instantly pulled into a friendship with the ever optimistic Trill. They've shared a few holodeck adventures together, and she was asked to be part of his zhian'tara ritual, embodying Eira Yalu, a prominent politician with a love of all things Bajoran. They are becoming close friends, and she values his opinion.

Background

Meidra T'Lora Sirin was born to astrophysicist Sahriv, and Lenore Sirin, a writer and historian. She was raised alongside her two siblings on Vulcan for the first ten years of her life, until her parents decided that their children needed to experience other cultures by travel. She returned to Vulcan at age 12 to do her kahs-wan. While this was usually done at age eleven, her father had to convince the elders, one of whom was his own father that Meidra's El Aurien blood made her just as worthy to go through the ritual. Strangely enough, there were no such qualms over her twin brother going through the ritual, perhaps because his features were prominently Vulcan, while Meidra had red hair and green eyes.

She passed, but it gave her a life long hatred of the desert. Her father had been called away on what he'd said was a routine science conference. He never returned, his ship classified as a lost vessel. Meidra has never gotten over it. During her ritual trek across the desert, she and her brother had taken different routes, and both were attacked by an unseen force. Her father appeared to save her just as she was close to death. Her brother had not seen him, so no one believed he had been there. As her family chose to believe her father could not have been there as he obviously would have saved his son, Meidra quickly decided that following the path of logic over truth was not the path she wanted to take. Her brother was critically injured, and in stasis for a year before waking and learning to walk and fight again. It was a long road, and he trained with Meidra. The two of them were a force to be reckoned with, using lirpas in a collaborative fashion not seen on Vulcan before or since. They were a strong fighting unit for many years before everything changed again.

Her mother had spent the next thirty three years taking the three siblings to different worlds, encouraging them to learn as many languages and customs as they could, making it a competition. She seemed calculating and distant to the many beings they met along the way, but still tried her best to protect her family. During those years, Meidra and Salan worked with many beings who were persecuted. They grew familiar with many covert organizations, though never officially joined any of them. Her mother seems unaware of the twins fondness for intrigue. The family eventually returned to Vulcan, under Sahriv's father's protection.

Her Vulcan grandfather wanted Meidra to honor her family by marrying the son of a wealthy clan and giving up all thoughts of a career. She answered that plan by publicly denouncing the proceedings as an archaic relic no longer needed. Traveling to other worlds and opening their views to other species means that parents no longer had to bond their children to ensure their line continued. Needless to say, her family was not pleased by the situation. Her chosen bondmate attacked her when she refused him. She has since learned that her intended has been eliminated, most likely by her twin.

After sending a coded message to her cousin Alieth, Meidra escaped the estate to join Starfleet at age forty six. She was tired of feeling like she was an outsider with the people who should accept her without reservation. Her grandfather was not pleased, but Alieth helped Meidra study for the entrance exam and get away from her grandfather's 'protection'. Meidra is fluent in 10 languages, and passable in many more. She sometimes switches between languages when she is nervous, or angry.

No one in her immediate family had been in Star Fleet before, so that made it perfect for Meidra, as she would not be competing with anyone but herself. She quickly decided on a double major of Counseling/Xenobiology, with a minor in astronomy. She was assigned her second roommate, who was also a friend she'd met years ago in her travels with her parents. Margo Lemand was a Betazoid who quickly discovered they had a shared love of chocolate and history. Her first roommate disappeared without warning and Meidra keeps what she knows to herself as it is not her story to tell.

Meidra is an expert at lirpa combat due to her father's early tutelage, she continued training with her twin Salan. She has a strong pull to listen and understand the world around her, even if it sometimes puts her in dangerous situations. She is cautious with her words, but not in her actions, leading to the occasional bar fight over some perceived injustice. She may or may not hear the katra of her grandmother when she needs guidance. She also may or may not admit that depending on how many drinks she has had that evening. Due to her grandmother dying a violent death, T'Ria's katra chose to move to Meidra's psyche and not be brought to the Hall of Ancient Thought, though this is not common knowledge.

Awards and Service Ribbons
Service Ribbon Name Date/Assignment Citation
Starfleet Academy Graduate Ribbon 239706.07
Starfleet Academy
Awarded to those who have graduated from Starfleet Academy.
Maiden Voyage Ribbon 239709.23
USS Resolution
Awarded to an individual who has served in the first mission of a newly commissioned vessel or installation.
While the Resolution is not new, relaunching a ship takes just as much resolve and hard work as if she were.
Kalianna Nicholotti
Peacekeeper Service Ribbon 239709.23
USS Resolution
Awarded to a member of Starfleet who participates in, and successfully completes, a mission where keeping the peace is the primary goal.
Our mission, though unexpected, was completed entirely without a single shot fired. Now that part was far from easy to handle, especially since the Resolution was being shot at nearly the entire time. It took a good amount of work to solve the puzzle we were presented, and to do so without resorting to the ‘easy way out’ deserves recognition.
Kalianna Nicholotti
Captain's Commendation 239712.08
USS Resolution
Awarded to a awarded to a person for exemplary service and/or honorable actions performed in the course of his/her duties, when that service is deemed worthy of formal recognition by his/her commanding officer.
So many awards and commendations are presented in light of a battle or fight against an enemy of the Federation, with peace often finding itself both rare, and rare to reward. It took a lot to reach deep and work to connect with the entity that had taken over the Unity. Around each turn, we could have simply destroyed the ship and followed orders that would keep it out of the hands of any who were not the Federation. Instead, we worked towards a better solution.
Kalianna Nicholotti
Explorer's Ribbon 239802.23
USS Resolution
Awarded to a person who participates in the discovery of a new planet, region, or species.
[F]or those who inevitably aided in the discovery of a new planet and the race that lived there, I award...the Explorer’s Ribbon.
Kalianna Nicholotti
First Contact Ribbon 239802.23
USS Resolution
Awarded to a person who participates in a successful first contact event.
Inevitably, what goes hand in hand with discovery is contact with the life forms that reside on the planet in question. While discovered to be less savory characters, the event was still a first contact situation for us and as far as we know, for the Federation. To that end, I award...the First Contact Ribbon.
Kalianna Nicholotti
Silver Lifesaving Ribbon 239802.23
USS Resolution
Awarded to an individual who has saved the life of another member of Starfleet.
There are those out there to whom we owe more than can be repaid. In the process of carrying out their duties, these officers go above and beyond and deliver the gifts of life to those who would otherwise have gone without. As one of the recipients of such a gift, I can say that there is no greater love one can receive than to be able to live because of the skill, sacrifice, and care of another.
-Kalianna Nicholotti

Living Quarters

Meidra's quarters aboard the Resolution are on Deck Four, she currently does not have a roommate, but is considering asking Dwich to move in with her.

Mission History

Stardate 239707.20 - 239709.13 - Unity

Meidra arrived at Starbase 118 on stardate 239707.21 to begin her duties as Counseling Officer on the newly commissioned USS Resolution.

On the crew’s first mission within the Borderlands, they come across a derelict ship quite near the Klingon neutral zone border. The USS Unity, one of the last Constitution-refit class ships built, had gone missing and presumed destroyed by Klingon forces over 50 years ago. An away team was sent over to the ship hoping to restore power in order to tow back to Starbase 118 for an appropriate decommission.

As the away team explored the lifeless vessel, they almost immediately found the dead crew throughout the ship. The lack of oxygen prevented normal decay of the corpses. Once power was restored, an automatic weapons system was activated, causing Unity to fire on Resolution; the away team unable to stop the attack or deactivate the shields to beam back. Soon, the telepathic members of the away team felt a psychic attack from an unknown entity, thankfully able to eventually find a way back to Resolution.

Once back onboard, the crew made contact with the creature, due to Ensign Del, Gnaxac, Ensign Mirkl, and Meidra finding a way to communicate through the ship’s computer system. Gnaxac, not being telepathic, was spared the hallucinations the entity shared, revealing the sad misunderstandings that had led to Unity’s crew dying.

Resolution towed the Unity to a nearby nebula, returning the creature to its home, then took Unity back to Starbase 118 to be decommissioned.

Stardate 239709.29 – 239711.16 - Come What May

Resolution’s next mission was to go to the Da’al homeworld after Starfleet received a message from the Prime Minister’s Military Advisor, Zeneth - without the Prime Minister’s awareness or permission. Klingons had entered their territory to speak to the Prime Minister, The Da’al, a non-violent warp-capable species, had previously refused to establish formal relations with either the Federation or the Klingon Empire, citing their desire to remain independent. Meidra accompanied Commander MacKenzie and other officers to the surface to the planet to discuss the situation, and determine what the Klingons were hoping to accomplish. The Klingons informed the Da’al and the away team that they shared a genetic ancestry and wished to welcome their new cousins into the Empire. Zeneth was not convinced this was a good idea, asking the Federation for assistance, while Ypartin, the Prime Minister, used this time to assert his total authority to take over the planet for his own use. MacKenzie questioned Ypartin, while the Prime Minister did not realize that his words were being transmitted throughout the homeworld and outlying colonies. His treachery was protested by the very people he had sought to rule, and he was placed under arrest. Due to unknown circumstances, he escaped, and his current whereabouts are not known per update from Zeneth. Before Starfleet departed, the advisor responded favorably to the idea of establishing peaceful relations with the Federation when they were ready to do so. The Klingons left the system without incident.
