Fearing for his safety, his wife, who worked for BUPERS, was able to procure Ethan an assignment at the Utopia Planita shipyards, which was increasing production in the aftermath of the beginning of the Dominion War. Ethan loved the job and spent the rest of his career there, eventually becoming Chief of Staff to the shipyard's commanding officer.
