Embassy Marines Overview

Organization

The Starfleet Marines assigned to the Embassy on Duronis II and to the USS Thunder belong to the Kilo Company of the Starfleet Marine Corps' 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment (nicknamed "The Cutting Edge"). Kilo Company is divided into two platoons. First Platoon is primarily assigned to protection for the Embassy and its occupants. Second Platoon is primarily assigned to duties on the USS Thunder and to supplement First Platoon when necessary.

Location and Facilities

Kilo Company is located at the rear of the Embassy, and all of its facilities are contained in one complex attached to the Embassy. A single access point from the Embassy to the corridors of the Marine Complex is available for command level entry and for rapid deployment into the Embassy if needed. Regular access to the Marine Complex is made through the entrance that faces the eastern ocean. More information about the facilities in the Marine Complex can be found here.

Duties

First Platoon Marines guard the perimeter and the entrances of the Embassy.

Second Platoon Marines provide protection for VIP Embassy personnel when they leave the Embassy grounds. When the USS Thunder is active, members of the Second Platoon transfer to the Cheyenne Class starship for space-based assignments including supplementing Security during yellow and red alerts, hostile vessel boarding actions, and providing protection for away teams off-ship.

Regular cross-training occurs with First and Second Platoons to prepare for additional needs from Kilo Company commanders.
