Personality

As his interactions with others increases, Drennon continues to mellow out from his predominant quasi-Cardassian indoctrination of suspecting everybody and trusting no one. He possesses a near perfect idellic memory from his studies as a youth, which makes him invaluable in respect to his duties.

Regardless, his experiences from being broken on Nakis Udina IV has not left him without some degree of emtotional scarring. Even though most of the initial systems of post traumatic stress disorder have been addressed and treated with a combination of medication and therapy, he still experiences reoccurring nightmares. What is most troubling however, is his total distain for his own species. As one counselor can recall him stating, "In my life, I've known two sorts of Cardassian. One will leave you in the street to starve. The other will torture and try to kill you with sadistic pleasure.

Hobbies and Pastimes

Ambitions and Goals

Drennon Kor joined Starfleet in order to show the quadrant the true value of a Cardassian. But his experiences thus far has lead him to seperate him from the rest, as today he only acknowledges himself as a Cardassian when he absolutely needs to. Now he only seeks to demonstrate how he is different from the others, lest people attempt to judge him by his species.

Personal History

At the climax of the Dominion War, the Cardassian Homeworld - Cardassia - lay seething and derelict by orbital bombardment from the combined Jem'Hadar and Breen fleets. Hundreds of millions of Cardassian lost their lives in a matter of hours, and many of the major cities had been unreservingly reduced to ruins before the Federation and her allies could force a Dominion surrender.

Drennon Nor was born in a barely habitable mining camp on the fringes of Cardassian space, largely neglected in light of the massive reconstruction effort back on the homeworld. Isolated and abandoned, the colony was routinely plagued by incessant pirate and slaver attacks, business and political corruption, and the radical paramilitary organization calling itself the True Way.

Life was difficult in the colony. Raised as the son of a decorated military officer turned to menial mine worker in the post war era, Drennon Nor learned to be handy as well as strong at an early age. By the time he was just a teenager, he stood at six foot four and weighed over two hundred and twenty pounds. He could toss hauls of ore over his shoulders, but possessed a sharp mind and intellect as well.

Drennon grew impatient with Starfleet's inability to adequately protect the fringe colonies, but where others would turn to the True Way for protection, he chose to do what few (if any) Cardassians had ever attempted - he applied for Starfleet.

Without a sponsor to vouch for him at the academy, his application was promptly dismissed. Determined to join nonetheless, he opted for enlisted service and was accepted as part of the Federation's new dual citizenship program. Basic training was grueling, even for a Cardassian who was already used to long days and difficult work with little sleep or rest. He struggled with his academics at first, but was aided by a few close friends he had made along the way, eventually earning his stripes before being assigned to the USS Orianna – a Nova-class refit exploring the Arucanis Arm.

Drennon served two years aboard the Orianna, rising gradually in rank and responsibility before he made his intent on becoming a Starfleet Officer known for the second time. Again, his request was denied. Although this time it was due to administrative mishandling back on Earth rather than for any lack of available sponsors. Drennon had earned the trust and respect of the Orianna’s crew and officers.

Later assigned to the USS Augusta Cole, a Stargazer-class cruiser on a much more tempestuous task preserving the failing peace between the Klingons and the Gorn, Drennon met a young woman by the name of Kihna Yurei; a betazoid female cadet serving in the engineering department. At first, their relationship was strictly professional while she helped tutor him in some of the more advanced principles of warp theory. But over time, a burgeoning relationship materialized between the two.

After seeing his performance first hand, as well as his desire on becoming a Starfleet Officer, Kihna managed to pull some strings which largely involved her father’s connections as an Admiral back on Earth to give Drennon the opportunity that she felt he deserved. She handed him his admission letter moments before he left as part of an away mission to search for a True Way hidden arms cache on Nakis Udina IV. Unfortunately, his shuttle was shot down during atmospheric entry. Most of the passengers on board were killed on impact, but he survived long enough to be taken prisoner.

Drennon spent six months as a captive of the True Way - the one species who knew how to break a Cardassian's spirit and pride, because they themselves were Cardassians. Under agonizing physical and mental torment, Drennon was forced to give out what little he knew on fleet positions, at which point he escaped into the the wilderness with a near mortal wound and left to die of starvation or exposure - which ever came first.

Little did they realize that he was a survivor. The type who finds away no matter the odds against him. Even in the untempered wilderness of Nakis Udina IV, he managed to survive on local vegetation and wild animals while evading the occasional True way patrol long enough to find rescue, despite having lost over a hundred pounds of body mass while doing so. Back aboard the Augusta Cole, he was rehabilitated and put through physical therapy before being allowed to return to active duty to begin his education at Starfleet Academy.

Taking the two-year advanced course in lieu of his credentials and experience as a non-commissioned officer, he eventually commissioned and was assigned to the USS Avandar as its newest Security Officer.
