Alexander Richards had a trouble free first year where he knuckled down and studied hard achieving very high marks for all core courses studied. He even completed three Xenolanguages to level 1 comprehension. However, his tutors noted a lack of social interaction.

Alexander Richards once again excelled during his time at the Academy. He showed a great aptitude for Xenolanguage again by studying three alien languages to level 1 (by choice) as well as completing several diplomatic courses. Although his tutors remained worried about his social interaction levels, his ability to learn and then apply the knowledge gained was shown to be of the highest order.

Alexander Riuchards third year at the Academy saw him elect a personalised study program that would enable him to serve as a communications and/or operations officer on board a starship or Starbase/Outpost. His expertise in Xenolanguages earned him a few trips to Vulcan to study their culture and history during the second semester. The tutors became so concerned about Alexander's social skills that a mutual decision was made to have Alexander take thew cadet cruise after his fourth year.

Alexander Richards graduated in the top percentile of his year group with a major in Starship Engineering and a minor in Communications & Operations. He was voted class Valedictorian but turned this down owing to his lack of social interaction over the four years of study. During his final year, Alexander helped work on the Oslo Class Starship and compiled the Starship Documentation file for the project. To this day, Alexander retains the project patch although he does not wear it on any of his uniforms.

Starfleet Academy Cadet Cruise

Alexander Richards completed his cadet cruise with no fuss and no problems. Captain Beaufort and his crew ensured that Richards gor as much social interaction as possible to try to bring the man out of his shell. Although this brought about a marked improvement in Richards' social skills, he was still considered socially inept by the end of his cruise. However, he showed great aptitude in the aplication of his knowledge especially during his final exam. Alexander excelled at the tactical station despite only having the core training in tactical from the Academy impressing both Beaufort and his senior Staff.

USS Independence A

The Bajoran Campaign

Fresh from the Academy, Alexander Richards was attached to the USS Independence A as the Chief Communications officer. During Shore leave he was asked to participate in a game of Volleyball with the senior staff which ended with himself breaking the nose of L. Eyas Wulfantine. Soon after this game, and an eating competition on board Space Station Deep Space 17, the USS Independence was called away on urgent matters regarding Bajor's acceptance into the Federation.

During this mission, Alexander proved to be rather arrogant during the briefing, he failed to help a fellow officer complete a task assigned to the both of them and hacked command codes to breach lock down protocol. Later, having been affected by the artifact being carried by the Scarlet Brotherhood, Alexander went AWOL for a period of 3 days during which he got very little sleep and only a small amount to drink.

Whilst AWOL, Alex unknowingly uploaded a back door protocol that the Brotherhood were able to use later to escape the USS Independence with the artifact. During his enforced confinement in sickbay, Alexander received a visit from an unknown entity (later speculated to be connected to the artifact) that left him with a horrific nightmare and possible Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (for which he is currently being evaluated for by Lt Jg. Velana.) Whilst on an away mission to reclaim the artifact, Alexander suffered injuries that rendered him unable to perform his duties. Most of the events of the Independence's disappearance and the crews subsequent return on a non native Steam Runner class ship (named the Tiger) are classified.

However, of note is the fact that whilst abandoning the Independence, Ensign Richards stopped to rescue a cat that in the confusion and rush to evacuate had been accidentally left on board. This cat, named Zlix had been the Pet of one Lt. Cmdr. Alleran Tan. On arrival at Deep Space 17, Alexander presented the cat to his son to look after.

Alexander Richards is a fine man and will make a damn fine officer and crew mate where ever he ends up posted. The ships chief Engineer, Dobson has cited to me on several occasions Mister Richard's immense knowledge of Starship Engineering operations and a willingness to get his hands dirty. He is a hard working man with a vast knowledge of protocol and a brilliant understanding of diplomacy. His Xenolinguistics skills will prove invaluable to any future commanding officer as will his ability to learn.

My only negative thing to report about Mister Richards is his continued social ineptitude. Although it has improved greatly on board this vessel, he still has a lot to learn about communication with his crew mates both on and off duty. However, I believe given enough time, this could be solved especially, with some counseling.
